Attention Military Families......
Considering that you responded to this post I operate on the assumption that you're probably liberal and I won't get views from the right. Be that as it may.....

question: How do you and/or your loved one who is in the military view the current situation in Iraq? Bush? Re-enlistment probabilities?

My husband is getting out... after 20 years in the service.

Oh and teh shocker is many in the military are not happy, but
due to the UCMJ they cannot say it and you know it.

2. My DH is no longer on active duty but....
he is retired Navy and we spend a lot of time on base and at the local VA hospital (* kids do NOT join the Navy they use you up and when do everything they can to not pay benifits).

Anyway we have observed and heard many interesting things

1 all 'quaterdecks' have photos up displaying the 'chain of command' we have seen W's picture upsidedown and have seen it in the place where the pic of the VP is supposed to be and Cheney's pic where the prez is supposed to be

2 at the local VA there are some guys who talk about Bush being the greatest etc. but LOTS more stuff about him being an 'as*&^#e', a chickenhawk and how he stole the election.

3 ever since 9/11 it has been more difficult to get on base ID checks etc. lately they gaurds barely glance at ID's and don't buy into the hightened alerts that come out every so often.

4 there is a shortage of Doctors. My local military hospital has been losing docs and 'no replacement is scheduled'. In fact we were just notified that we will no longer have a family pediatrician as he 'has seperated from the command' and 'no replacement in expected'.

5 my husband is VERY vocal about his anger and frustration with how badly veterans and active duty are being treated and even people in uniform have loudly agreed with him.
