I'm looking for Kerry and Gephardt to tag team
tonight at the debate against Dean. It will be so sweet, to see two great real Democrats assert there rightful place in the pantheon of the candidates, and show Dean what it's like to be knocked down a peg or two. Perhaps even a knockout blow will be forthcoming.

1. I want them to tag team against bush, and leave each other alone!
The repukes will tape and use all the barbs and bashes, against our nominee next year. Why help them???

3. Why?
On what basis do you consider Kerry and Gephart to be "real Democrats"?

They both voted with the Republicans on Bush's illegal and un-American invasion of Iraq.

Furthermore, neither of them stands a chance in 2004.

12. You should check the facts.

Gephardt negotiated the deal that kept Bush from conquering most of the Middle East.

13. I hope you think Kucinich stands a chance
because I think DK of all the candiates took the biggest stand against the war, however Gephardt and Kerry if you look beyond IWR are good democrats. Kucinich would be people's choice if they think like that, I for one dont but thats just me.

14. We have been over this, and over it.
Yes, they both voted the wrong way. So did Hillary and Chuck Schumer. So did Diane Feinstein, and many others, Yes, they were wrong.

But if we cut ourselves off at the knees by saying that since they voted wrong, we won't have them as nominee, or we won't vote for them, we might indeed lose next year. I can tell you right now, that Kerry will be the Dem nominee next year, for 'inside' political reasons, and I fear that Dean will be bypassed, just as Gary Hart was in 1984. I do not think that Kerry has the best chance to beat bush, but we had better hope that he can; it will be our only hope.

But this infighting helps only the repukes. Any political scientist will tell you that.

5. Wouldn't you rather have a gang-tackle on Bush?
I'm hoping for a unified Democratic front against the REAL enemy. If Dean goes down, let it be because of the efforts of the Media, Rove and Dean's own doing. Democrats don't have to - and shouldn't - help THAT cause.

We call it Riding the Gravy Train.

I predict a Gep/Kerry Duet:

"Welcome to the Machine"

"Have a Cigar"

Dedicated, of course, to their fatcat backers and status quo cronies.

Compared to 15% for Dean. Make of it what you will...

Edited to include that I would never equate years of union support with cronyism... They've never been known to have politicians "in their pocket." :eyes:

35. I dont think StL called Dean a fat cat
I too think its absurd to call Gephardt a fat cat, I am not a supporter but its evident he is far from one, yes Kerry is pretty wealthy but so was Kennedy and Roosevelt. BTW I noticed that Sharpton had a lot of 2K plus ones surely you dont think hes a fat cat.

32. Its ok
One of the reasons why I am a dem is their support for organized labor if any one reflects this its Dennis and Dick. I think Gephardt is a good choice for a union, hes a good guy and I think it would be good to have him as president. Him and Dennis have a bit of common ground being big union supporters, having actually marched with unions, and Dennis's father was a truck driver too not a Teamster like Mr. Gephardt's father was though to my knowledge.

11. Kerry and Geppy will try, but

just like last time, they will come off looking second best.

My guess is they will do some mudslinging in Clark's direction too. And, just like last time, it will do more to turn people off than to rally them to their side.

The good doctor will shine, as he always does. Just you wait...

But eventually we will have to put all this bickering behind us and recognize that Howard Dean will be the next president of the United States. It is inevitable, so let's all just get used to it.

I am sure Dean is ready and will take them down a notch like he did last time. But to most people it looks desperate that they are picking on the "frontrunner". Kerry was my second choice but he keeps on slipping down the line.

20. OK
Well, look people, lets take another look at this now. I know its not a nice thing to see, two good and decent Democrats taking pot shots at each other. And yes, we all know that the real enemy is Bush, but look where we are today, not where we're going. Yes, this is the time to go after each other. We are not watching them now to see who can badmouth Bush the best what we are looking for is who among the 9 comes out on top of the heap. Bush has nothing to do with it at this point in the game other than he is someone all feel must be replaced.

43. Great Post
Some of you seem to indicate that you would never support Dean for the nomination. Would you?

That said I'm a Dean supporter that sort of agrees with ThomWV line of reasoning. Our candidates must be able to take the heat or they will never make it through the general election with right wing assults and dirty tricks coming at them everyday. Let SENSIBLE attacks happen tonight, but let every one of them end with "that said Mr. Dean, you're still better than the current guy."

He is the one who started bashing the other candidates. Maybe that's why in one article a person from Vermont referred to Dean as a "Rockefeller Republican."
