Bush sets a record=blinking 84 times=
"The fidgeting clearly corresponded to the questioning. When Lauer asked if Bush, after a slow response to Katrina, was 'trying to get a second chance to make a good first impression,' Bush blinked 24 times in his answer. When asked why Gulf Coast residents would have to pay back funds but Iraqis would not, Bush blinked 23 times and hitched his trousers up by the belt.

"When the questioning turned to Miers, Bush blinked 37 times in a single answer -- along with a lick of the lips, three weight shifts and some serious foot jiggling."

5. Blink Rates have long been studied in the field of psychology
...the study of psychos...if I may.

Usually indicates prevarication levels are way up there....due to extreme nervousness, etc.

10. He was just trying to hold back the tears!
...because he cares SO MUCH about those affected by Katrina. You can tell how much he's been crying, just look at that puffy, red nose!

11. Isn't this kinda silly?
To focus on this--when there's so many other, serious, things upon which to focus about him, makes us look childish.

12. Actually, there are whole sections of psychology devoted to this.
Granted, he could just suffer from dry eyes, but physical cues have long been used to gauge sincerity.

13. Perhaps...
Yes, there ARE psychological studies that deal with this subject; I'm not sure this article used any of them except in the most superficial way. This is opinion--not fact. I'd rather talk about the facts concerning Bush. We need to stay credible.
