U.S. Army Holds Art Contest for Abu Ghraib Detainees (juveniles)

http://usgovinfo.about.com/b/a/2005_10_08.htm

U.S. Army correspondent Sgt. Lynne Steely reports from Iraq that juvenile detainees at the Abu Ghraib prison were allowed to compete in an art contest in which they were challenged to paint the walls of the camp's concrete bunkers.

Sgt. Steele reports that the Army supplied the detainees with paint, brushes, and a few suggestions of art themes, such as "a united Iraq."

The winner was awarded a large edition of the Qur’an (the holy book of Islam) and seven nights of comedy movies.

The Army decided to put on the art contest as a way to "keep the juvenile detainees’ minds occupied and to give them something to focus on."

5. Very deceptive headline-sounded like a fundraiser for the kids
A more appropriate headline would have read:

Army tricks underage prisoners into doing their jobs for them.

I sure hope those comedy movies drowned out the shrieks of the others prisoners being raped and tortured.

6. Ahh the beauty of child labor, not enough troops to paint the damn walls
and can't trust any grown ups with something like a paintbrush (no really they can't.. not now)... so they bribe the kids and make up some bogus cover story.

Do they even realize how comedy and drama hell just entertainment in general takes on a whole different slant when you're locked up? Locked up and tortured at teh very least by the tortured cries of your Moms and Dads and siblings? Whatever child won this "contest" probably cried their eyes out watching the comedies.

Heres a grand fuckin idea to boost morale, let the fucking kids go you mercenary fuckwads. You NGO bootlickers! Slimey ass reptilian scumsuckers.
