Will Krugman Win the Nobel Prize in Economics Tomorrow?
Edited on Sun Oct-09-05 11:19 PM by Cheney Killed Bambi
The Nobel Prize in Economics will be announced around 1:00pm tomorrow Stockholm time. NYT columnist Paul Krugman is a perennial contender and could certainly be the winner.

I hope he wins, just so I can watch Neal Cavuto's head explode!

1. Damn I didn't know Krugman was up for it!
If so that would so rock. Seriously ever notice it's always left leaning people that win the highly coveted Nobel Prize in Economics?

11. Someone seriously nominated Clinton for the Economics prize?
Wow, they obviously didn't understand what it's about. Are you sure that wasn't the joke?

13. PEACE prize. Not economics
That's the point - politicians are often nominated for the peace prize (and I think that's the only prize for which nominations are actually made public), but only economists (or related academics, like mathematicians) get the economics prize. You don't get the economics prize for just being president of one country when its economy does well.

7. Note also there are few economists who advocate socialism.
Economists tend to be realists. There are some market fundamentalists, and some socialists, but the vast majority are neither.

10. We don't know about any confirmed nominations.

"Information about the nominations, investigations, and opinions concerning the award is kept secret for fifty years."

4. Krugman rules!!
I love Paul Krugman. He's been on top of the economy the past few years, and has correctly called the Bush admin on its various economic failures.

He busted O'Reilly's balls, too.
