1. Interesting... wonder who is doing it?
snip from the article

<Susan Mosychuk, Mr. Murphy's chief of staff, said there had not been a flood of calls. "Unfortunately, some people have been confused by the calls and they think they're coming from our office."

Ms. Mosychuk explained that the calls had somehow been manipulated so the phone number for Mr. Murphy's district office, rather than the actual caller, shows up on the caller ID of those on the receiving end.

"This is a national campaign. It's going into districts all over the country. It really is a mystery," she said.

Ms. Mosychuk said that the calls were apparently being targeted at any Republican incumbent who had received money from Mr. DeLay's federal political action committee. She emphasized that a 2002 contribution Mr. Murphy had received from Mr. DeLay's federal PAC had no relation to the state political action committee that is at the center of the Texas charges.>

4. Would this be considered civil disobedience?
Especially since the phone number of the Congressperson's office is what is showing up on caller IDs.

I did receive an email from MoveOn suggesting I call my representative about money he received. That's different than these phone calls since they were upfront about who sent the email.

BTW, I made the call.

3. I received a similar call
Edited on Sun Oct-09-05 12:14 PM by Lady President
My mother and I both received similar calls. I wish I had saved the message, but to paraphrase:

"Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-OH12) has taken over $8,000 from Tom Delay's campaign financing organization. Texas Republican Tom Delay has recently been indicted for felony conspiracy for his alleged involvement in a Texas campaign finance scheme. Please call Rep. Tiberi at xxx-xxx-xxxx and demand he returns the $8,000 in illegal funds."

I can't remember the organization paying for the calls, but it definitely made me smile. :)

6. Paul Revere's Ghost must be the one...what a great idea!
I wish EVERYONE in the truth-seeking grassroots would start doing this, but I fear that sword would have two edges.

People in the USA need to start hearing the truth somehow, since the republican-owned media won't report things.

My hat is off to whomever is doing this, but I'd be cautious about it turning loose some freaks on the other side.

8. I understand what you're saying
but keep in mind that we've been on the "receiving" end of that "two-edged sword" for some time now (Diebold immediately comes to mind). It's high time we used the technology to fight back in any way we can -

To those techno-wizards behind this - we need a keylogger device that can be tied to the modem port on these voting machines - can you get to work on that (if you haven't already done so)? thx

10. I've been thinking the only way the public will take the BBV
threat seriously is if Mickey Mouse wins a couple of elections.

Oh, and welcome to DU!
