Why is Homeland Security Downplaying what NYC is calling
...a credible threat? This seems very weird? A news conference right before all the news reporting starts on the east coast.....but its given by the Mayor not the Dir of Homeland Security....doesn't this smell fishy to anyone else?

1. Cynic that I have become, I figure it's probably a cooperative
Republican NYC administration that's helping the White House divert attention from ugly indictment headlines forthcoming and to help bolster Georgie's dumbass and flaccid speech on "terra".

2. same thing I thought....but it seems such an OBVIOUS ploy if that's the...
...case. I hate thinking this about these idiots. I really do but it doesn't add up. I don't trust them. If they did something this stupid they are truly desperate and we should all be very afraid of what desperate thing they will do next.

4. And it's so obvious, and so clumsy, that for once nobody's buying it.
Could Rove and them POSSIBLY be any lamer? They've lost their touch.

7. or give cause to delcare Martial Law and end their problems.
Dimson has been frothing at the bit to 'send in the military' to the point that it makes one wonder if that toy has not already been promised to him. He has been working real hard at president stuff of late. They have to have dangled some carrot in front of him to get his petulant ass in gear.

6. Cause they are playing with public opnion
They've done it before. It's a trick they know works for them.

Last year I made a study of terror alerts and their correlation to Bush getting in trouble. Since 9/11, every time Chimpy screwed up or dropped in his ratings, Tom Ridge and DHS would quickly issue a terror alert. This no "tinfoil hat" speculation. Even Tom Ridge has admitted to issuing terror alerts at the wanton request of the White House, even when they knew they had no credible evidence.

Here's a link to my study:

Timeline of Terror Alerts

And here's a link to the chart that explained the study in visual terms:

Chart: Bush Ratings vs. Terror Alerts

How convenient that in the same week Ton Delay is charged with money laundering, Bush ratings plummet even further down, Frist is investigated for insider trading, and Rove is about to be indicted... we get this terror alert.

Furthermore, they claim they found the info on potential terror attacks today in Iraq. This, on the same day Bush delivers a speech to convince the nation to keep fighting Iraq. Come on!!!

It's always by "incredible coincidences" that Bush gets to save his butt. Give me a break.

PS: This is not to say there are not credible terror threats. Of course. Particularly after the devastating attacks in Madrid and London, it's important we stay alert. But the sudden alert released on such a crucial and convenient date just rings phony to me. They've done it before and Tom Ridge has admitted it so.
