Indictments often come on Fridays....
that way has the weekend buffer, where the normal evening news doesn't have to cover it for a few days. and folks don't have an opportunity to discuss it at the "water cooler."

whenever something "bad" has to be announced, it's usually on a friday. I don't know who controls the timing of this.

March 1, 1974, a Friday, is when Nixon was named by the DC grand jury along with Erlichmann, Haldemann, et al. If my memory serves me correct, it was very late in the day when indictments were announced. I remember it being early evening (6 o'clock eastern).

That the indictments could be handed down let say today since the media controls their own DUMPS they wouldnt let us know until tommorow so as to minimize damage.

8. Not.
How could Fitzgerald announce a press conference without the Blogosphere hearing about it?

Can't happen, my friend.

9. I think the longer it takes to hear, the higher up they will go.
They're negotiating with the recipients of the target letters.

I hate waiting to see Karl frog march, but in this case, extra time is a good thing.

13. what makes you tink Fitz wants a big media frenzy around this?
he might have his own reasons for wanting the weekend shelter. you think he wants his phone to ring off the hook all day long tomorrow? wouldn't he rather hand down the indictments and take a couple days off?

15. You can try to put words in my mouth, but it won't play.
I don't think Fitzgerald wants a big media frenzy about this and nothing I wrote would lead to that conclusion.

I think Fitzgeral will drop any indictments, if there are any at all, when he is good and ready, at his own time. I don't think the media enter into the calculations.

12. IMO its more about giving targets time to cop a plea than Fridays
per se.

These indictments would be "hugh" news. They wouldn't get lost on a newsdump Friday even if they were announced very late afternoon. Moreover, if there really is an elected official who is an unnamed co-conspirator there will be special reports on it, more than an hour on the timeline review, the identification of the players, discussion of the points of indictment and punditry screaming about where the cases are headed.

Fitz' wants the strongest possible cases to take to trial. He needs to let the targets stew for at least a couple days to think about whether they want to try to limit their exposure.

So, if the letters got delivered yesterday, I would think that make Friday the earliest possibility.

All in all I think it's looking to be an interesting Oktoberfest.

14. It only qualifies as a "news dump" if it comes from the Administration.
I don't believe they have any control over when, and how, Fitzgerald will announce his findings.

I'm looking at Monday.
