It is easy to say "It's just STUFF" when you personally make the decision to divest yourself of the extraneous crap that we all acquire.

It is another thing to have some witch named Katrina make the decision for you (a guy named Khomeini did the same thing for me!).

I hope your sister and her loved ones are well, and hanging in there.
