I just called in to C-SPAN again

They are having a discussion on whether a gun ban would work in the US. I said the following:

"I consider myself a pragmatist Democrat. That is, I care how things work in the real world. Whether people are safer. That being said, I have this to say about gun control:

A gun is something you have and hope you're never going to have to use. But if you ban it, more people will get hurt.

Now why can't we think the same way about the abortion procedure?"

1. A friend of mine has a "conceal-to-carry" permit.

On Thursday morning, he was the target of an attempted carjacking. When he reached for his gun, the perpetrator shot him four times. He's in Vanderbilt Hospital as we speak, recovering from having half of his intestines and some of his colon removed. He has a bullet lodged in his spine that cannot be removed. His elbow was shattered.

His gun did not protect him. If anything, it got him shot.

The news media called it "drug-related". It was not - it simply happened to take place in an public-housing area.

I thought you had a good point. However, I also knew nobody would reply to your response because people just wanted to share their overwhelming approval of the gun culture. "Testosterone Poisoning--It's Not Just for Conservatives Anymore".

Personally, I was annoyed with the topic...Brazil is going to be voting soon on a possible gun-control referendum...and there's all the predictable C-Span calls....but you threw a little curve ball in there & I loved it!
