| What would you put into the Democratic Party platform ? |
|
I will start. The Democratic Party stands for the equal rights of all Americans, regardless of age, race, or sexual orientation.
What would you put in the platform?

to improve government efficiency and performance. If we try something, and it doesn't work, we'll admit it, junk it, and try something else.

along with a sane energy policy need to go back on the front page of the Party's website as issues we stand for. What the Bush admin has done to the environment is criminal. And as far as I know only the corporate whores at DLC support what chimpy and his whores have done.

| 15. "Conservative Hate"?!? Democractic platform... |
|
...is "anti-conservatisim" and "anti-Bush"???
First off, what proof do you have that this administration and it's cronies in both the House and Senate are even remotely conservative?? Conservatives stand for nation building, borrow and spend, deficits, overruling State's rights (think 2000 Recount and the SCOTUS overruling Florida's highest court's decision); invasion of citizens' privacy; lowering the bar on EPA standards??
Is that what you base your erroneous contention on??
I advise you to put that tall, warm glass of Kool-Aid down and review the facts of events from the past 5 years, and hopefully you'll see that this administration has LESS to do with what conservatism has always been about, and seems to have more akin with what a dictatorship looks like.
Perhaps a re-reading of your own sig is, for you, a GOOD, if not necessary thing. Sheesh.

| 13. Right to vote, right to have votes counted, and computer generated |

Congressional districts.
The Constitution should require that the president of the US be chosen by election, all votes--and not just a representative sample, as was done in 2004--must be counted.
And gerrymandering by both parties must stop. It is leading to extremist districts, drawn to benefit one or the other party, and this is making Congress even more divided than it would be otherwise.

| 16. What would it matter? |
|
Who is bound by the platform?
The Democrats who passed CAFTA or the Democrats who voted for the heinous bankruptcy reform bill?
Maybe it's the Democrats who voted to confirm Roberts?
The platform is nothing but hollow symbolism.

| 19. It's not the "we" that's the problem. |
|
"We" do. "We" agonize. "We" theorize. "We" seek justice and fairness above all else because all else of value flows from that.
"They" turn around and sell us out to the lowest common denominator with the fattest checkbook at the first opportunity.
The grassroots are absolutely powerless in the equation. We have been for generations, actually. It's not about to change.
No Democratic candidate for any office is bound by the platform. It's as irrelevent as the gas from a gnat fart.

Comprehensive whistle-blower protection including income guarantees.
An income tax code that treats earned income preferentially.
Outlaw all urine and blood testing in employment screening and on the job except for those positions where human life is at risk -- and except for EVERY federal elected or appointed office.
I'd also advocate a federal statute that PROHIBITS any elected or appointed official from participating in any fund-raising activity of any kind while in office. (That would include charities, campaigns wether for self or others, and employment.)
