To issue Executive orders? Does anyone know the history?

1. after this, I hope there is some incentive to eliminate the post
of President and the whole executive branch.

4. I can appreciate the sentiment but we haven't had a President for 5 years.
At least.

6. Thank you
I tried searching but only got info on the EO that have been made over the years. I wanted to know where the power came from because I could not find it in the constitution.

5. Looks like we need some doctoral research
here, but the authority to issue executive orders appears to be inherent in the power of the executive and flows from the constitution. The POTUS is not the only executive with this ability--governors can also issue them.
Let's see, there have been some really bad executive orders out there--like the internment of the Japanese people in WW II. So I am curious as to the actual limits on this authority, and I have not seen anything about that.
