That's the problem with stats. You can link to completely unrelated things just by spouting out numbers that "prove" your point. Although it may be true that violent crime has indeed declined since abortion was legalized, I would prefer to believe that violent crime dropped because the economy was doing well (at least better than it was in the 80's), Hand-gun and assualt rifle legislation, and other CRIME related facts and figures.

But I'm almost damn sure those particular statistics were linked to tougher drug laws, particularly cocaine pedalers. The laws for cocaine were inherently racist--(lesser sentencing for power cocaine than crack--at a time blacks were dealing with more crack) The reason I hate this is I can't remember my source, but I believe it was in Time magazine a few years back. If you aborted all babies (forgive the inappropriate language) in certain white neighborhoods, it would decrease; it would decrease the per capita crime rate for whites, and overall. The remaining white communities have a slightly lower (on average) crime rate. And because blacks have a slightly higher overall crime rate than whites at last peek at the statistics (even just looking at violent crime), just eliminating whites would probably increase the average crime rate a little.

A larger percentage of blacks live in areas of persistent, so-called dense poverty than whites. Race is secondary; but since the effect is markedly disproportional, largely the legacy of racism (but probably not just racism), the problem would most likely be dealt with in terms of race-based aid.

(Poverty by itself correlates fairly poorly with high crime; it requires other things in combination.)

If you just mean the number of incidents of crime, without the idea of per capita rate, pretty much any abortions would decrease the projected amount of crime, simply because there would be fewer people. So would lowering the immigration quota for Canadians. That's trivial.
