It is a dangerous time. But with legislation and lies, the Republican Party has conquered the "free press" that once existed. At least, what was considered a "free press". The Republican Party is now in the drivers seat.

They have always had an advantage because they are the Party of capitalists. They curried favor for that reason alone. However, when the Fairness Doctrine and the Telecommunications Bill was passed, that was the death knell for our "free press" - whether we knew it or not. And it marked the point of decline for Democrats which they could not recover.

But the Republican Party has always existed on their propaganda and lies. They have always had enough people in their Party to garner wins in political races but they never had a monopoly like they have at present. Although they did take control in the 1920's - just before the Great Depression. That's what it took for people to understand just what the Republican Party stood for. Low taxes that benefitted the wealthy but sold as a benefit to the working class. They knew who it benefitted. But they lied then just as they lie now.

People have voted against their interests since our country began. They believed the Repubs were the Party of fiscal responsibility and would defend our nation better than the Democrats. Because their policies benefitted the wealthy in the media and Big Business, they have always been successful in selling their Party. But the truth is, their policies have always run counter to the interests of the people as a whole. And now, they have control of the propaganda machine and the press and the only think that can stop them is their own arrogance and lust for absolute power. It may happen.

It seems we are paranoid as a culture, and afraid of those who are
most alike ourselves. IN that sense, the bush paranoid racists are
afraid of China and Russia. Russia because they are just like the czar
himself at the beginning of the 20th century, unaware of the pestilence
repressing the serfs will bring. And they are like china, as they are
a collusion of corrupt clans, a loose federation of mafia bosses, who
are as opaque as a people's central committee. And though the language
may be different, the approach and intents are the same, to repress
dissent, control the population, and erode sovereign indivdiuality as
the ultimate threat to state totalitarianism.

And like the CCCP, corporate truth( PRAVDA) is the new order, as
disseminated by the state media outlets. Were not the russian people
a bit cynical about the "truth"? Like russia, and underground of
persons aware of the real truth abides, but is under the hate-war of
the supreme soviet himself bushwack the ignorant.

And most like himself, osama bin laden, bush is a suicide bomber,
destroying everything inside his corruption laden global party of
systemic war and racial economic apartheid. The other 5.7 billion
persons on the planet will help out with the propaganda problem in
keeping the insane-usa from having another psychotic war episode.

3. I read recently a quote from an early political analyst.

Maybe from the 18th or 19th century. He said that when a party begins to believe its own propaganda, it's on it's way out. That is a very rough paraphrase. But you get the idea.

It's AMAZING how we are still corrupted by the "same old stuff." You'd think we would be more savy by now. :shrug:

Given that...we have to hope that SOME "commercial interest" will come over to "Our Side" seeing "big $$$$$$$'s" in the switch.

Im surprised its taking the people so long to realize the rethugs arent on their side . I mean its obvious.

Thats why controlling the propaganda is so vital to them. Once the BS stops, theyre finished.

Or the people wake up.

I dont have much faith in that happening anytime soon with the Religious rights war against gays and abortion and us in their crosshairs
