Under Karl Rove Whitehouse protocol for dealing with bad news relies heavily on the nano-attention span of the American public. Rove has one play in his book: lie, subjugate, deflect and wait. Wait until something else comes along big enough to take away our attention.
Missing blonde virgins used as filler.
Katrina put a lot of stress on Karl’s single play. Five days of intense and often passionate media focusing on America’s flooded squalor blew up big on this administration. This is way more than Rove’s playbook can handle.
Limited to the limitations of a one-trick-pony Karl opened his single page playbook and began deflecting. He desperately wants us focusing on the semantics of playing blame games.
They’re spinning and blaming Katrina with mixed effectiveness to a solemnly pissed off audience and now they have Delay’s indictment sucking the air out of Junior’s bubble.
They wanted to switch the conversation to the new and improved response to Rita. All they have is Rove’s single play. Can they spin and lie and cheat fast enough and often enough? How long before they pass out from spin fatigue?
