The perfect actor to play Tom Delay in a movie
would be John Garfield if this was 1950. Remember the old movie with Garfield playing the boss of the numbers racket? The title was something like Forces Of Evil. Perfect title, and Garfield even looks like Delay.

Remember, the closeted gay Dad from AMERICAN BEAUTY? One of the main CIA guys in BOURNE IDENTITY? Trust me, when HBO does the movie in a year or two, Chris Cooper will win the Emmy...

30. NO DOUBT! MY FIRST THOUGHT. He's one fine, fine talent.
But Delays' requested Orlando Bloom because of the striking resembence.

10. EEEEK NO!!! John Garfield is spinning in his grave right now!
1. Garfield was a good leftie artist, classic Depression Era pro reform, pro-social justice. 2. He played mostly working class heroes (rough exterior, soft inside) 3. The McCarthy witch hunt was well on its way to destroying his career when he died (very young.) 4. He's one helluva lot better looking and more appealing than Tom Delay. (You have awakened a slumbering Garfield fan.)

18. duers....fast and smart!
I knew this would be up here before I could post anything

poor John Garfield...he could have been the Robert DeNiro of his day.....wait a minute; that would entail time travel, wouldn't it?

23. Garfield wouldn't have had a career if Cagney hadn't gone before...
and DeNiro wouldn't have had a career if Garfield hadn't gone before...All of them REAL guys, or so they make us believe. A lot more real than most of the stuff today. (Now you've awakened a slumbering old movie fan.) I swear the old movie channels, especially TCM, have kept me sane throughout the Bush regime. (Why watch the news when you can watch Garbo?)

21. It was "Force of Evil" and it has a towering performance by the
brilliant John Garfield. BTW, the writer/director of the film, Abraham Polonsky, was blacklisted by Joe McCarthy and his House Un-American Activities Committee in 1951. Interesting story:

24. Thanks NYCGirl
Garfield was an incredible actor. I remembered the movie, but it's been years since I've seen it. My 86-year-old mother would have probably known more about it. Wasn't Garfield in his 40s when he passed away?

Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 11:01 PM by Sacajawea
On edit: What I meant was that he was believable AS a puke, not that he was a believable puke (are there any?), but you all probably figured that out for yourselves.
