| Which of the Republicans' long-standing beliefs has BushCo trashed? |
|
For example, I believe Bush trashed the Republicans' long-standing belief in "states' rights" when he moved the 2000 election dispute from Florida to the U.S. Supreme Court. Rather than allowing a state to decide its own election result completely by itself, he got the federal government to intervene in a state matter. This was little-discussed at the time, but I am sure that if a Democratic candidate tries in the future to get the SCOTUS to decide a state election dispute, the Republicans will cry, "states' rights! states' rights!" and claim that the U.S. courts have no business deciding state elections - but Bush effectively trampled that argument by dragging the 2000 election into the federal courts.
What other long-standing principles or beliefs has Bush & Co. trashed?
