The Note: "What Might Come Next"
<snip>
dramatic headline over today's New York Times lead story

It is very rare to get leaked a copy of a presidential speech before it is delivered — and especially rare to get such a leak from the Bush 43 White House.

So in part to show off that someone slipped us the President's major address for later today in Beaumont, Texas — but also in part because we think it is a pretty interesting and newsy set of remarks — we bring you the text, as written, of what President Bush plans to say.

:)

I don't feel bad, though. I was 14 years old at the time and barely gave TV the time of day back then.

Don't ever trust ABC's "The Note" again
by John in DC - 9/27/2005 01:54:00 PM

ABC News has a daily email update called "The Note." It's supposed to be an insider's look at what's happening in Washington, nice little tidbits, blog style. Today "The Note" decided to publish an advance copy of a speech George Bush is going to give later today. It's a hell of a speech. But for the fact that it's a total fake.

You see, The Note was joking. Bush isn't going to give this speech at all. In fact, it's the verbatim text of a speech that Jimmy Carter gave in 1979. Of course, The Note doesn't tell you that. They simply say, quite straight faced, that they've received an advance copy of Bush's speech today and that they're publishing it on their site - ABCNews.com, mind you - and that's it...

7. If this is a joke it really got me. . . . .
I was reeling from the idea that Bush would step up and become a leader of any kind. I still am kind of confused. I am so used to him doing everything in the most awful and self-interested way possible.

He seems to want to drive the US into the ground.

If it's not a joke. . . well, it is surprising but I can't let go of my cinisism about this horrible president very easily. . . we'll see.

10. Wow- I'd say it's an excellent joke!
It is amazing to read that and feel so strongly that this is exactly what we need to hear right now. If only we had followed Jimmy Carter then . . . where would we be today?

Instead people turned away . . . they wanted to be lied to by Reagan instead. . .

8. Americablog: "Don't ever trust ABC's "The Note" again"
Edited on Tue Sep-27-05 07:46 PM by jim3775
John Aravosis had an angry post about this earlier.

The note is essentially just daily BS from the corporate media "kool kid" set. Here is what they said a week ago:

"The press and the Democrats are still demonizing Karl Rove's involvement in anything and everything, expressing shock and horror that a deputy White House chief of staff with wide-ranging applicable experience is helping to oversee the Katrina response. "

http://atrios.blogspot.com/2005_09_18_atrios_archive.html#112714991877088853

So according to the note rove has "wide-ranging applicable experience" with disaster recovery. We know who they have their orders from.
