4. Here is the reason O'Lielly is talking trash about AAR...
Bill O'Reilly may be the king of cable television, but he doesn't have a court of loyal listeners on Denver radio.

His weekday talk show on KHOW-AM (630) will soon be replaced by one hosted by Glenn Beck, another syndicated personality who'll take over the noon-3 p.m. time period.

Under the contract, Clear Channel, operators of KHOW, must give syndicators of O'Reilly's series time to shop his show around in the Denver radio market before he's dropped from the station.

KHOW is making the move, according to Jerry Bell, program director of KHOW and KKZN-AM (760), because O'Reilly's show is in an audience rating funk - last in a talk radio battle that includes Rush Limbaugh KOA-AM (850), Sean Hannity KNUS-AM(710) and Ed Schultz KRZN.

Beck, headquartered in Philadelphia and currently heard in 47 markets across the country, is "a conservative with a broader view," according to Bell.

"Everything is not strictly political with him," Bell added.

Beck's show, airing on a two-hour delay, will also replace "Gunny" Bob Newman's 2 p.m. hour. Newman remains as weekday host (7-10 p.m.) on KOA.

The failure of O'Reilly to attract a local radio audience is surprising, given that his weeknight Fox News Channel hour is the highest rated regularly-scheduled program in the cable news environment.

Also, many assumed O'Reilly would have a residue of local fans who remember when he was a reporter/weekend anchor on 7News in the late '70s.

7. I'm going to have to watch that
It will be interesting to see how far from the truth O'reilly can get. It would be even better if FUX gives equal time to Al Franken to counter the lies.

8. Isn't AAR going to produce more shows that other stations can pick up
so there will not only be Air America Radio on various stations but also radio shows that will be on other radio shows?

In other words, AAR is expanding its business model exponentially.

10. Al Franken said that O'Reilly made that claim last week
and was supposed to offer a report the day after he made the claim.

He was counting down the days.

I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't materialize tonight, either.

12. This is to be expected
When Air America asks for donations in emails and on their website it just gives ammo to these people. What they say may even be true.

18. I'm not so sure that Air America
"lasting" or not would have much of an impact on what we hear.

As I understand it, AA is a network that primarily leases radio time, and gives us the likes of Al and Randi.

This is different than a syndicate, which sells programming to various stations. Think Ed Schultz, for example.

If this is the case, then even if AA "fails", the current on-air talent will probably just go the syndication route and remain on the air.

Again, not really up to speed on this but it seems a reasonable scenario.

20. I'm not a big fan of Air America, anyway...
Can't we find a single liberal with a background in broadcast journalism? These radio hosts on AA are just awful - there is so much dead air, most of them simply do not have the voices for radio, they try too hard to be funny, some of them exaggerate and give credence to ridiculous conspiracy theories, they allow the nuttiest callers to ramble on forever and don't let some of the callers on the "other side" to finish a sentence.

I guess I just don't think we should aspire to be like the Limbaughs of the world.

(and actually Rachel Maddow is one AA host who is intelligent, articulate and tolerable)
