2. How did she know that sitting on the sidewalk would get her arrested?
In Manhattan, I see people sitting on the sidewalk who don't get arrested for it.

7. yeah it was planned.
It was actually for "protesting without a permit" but they knew what they were doing would get them arrested. You aren't supposed to loiter outside of the Chimp's bubble for too long or you get carried away by men with UZIs.

9. Sitting on a sidewalk in Manhattan is different than a few hundred
sitting in front of the White House :)

They were cited for demonstrating without a permit.

It's called civil disobedience and is a time-honored tradition.

12. I assume so. Wasn't it obvious after seeing the smile on her face?
Has it been that long since people did sit ins in order to make a point - knowing that they would be arrested?

13. Plus they apparently had three warnings
before the actaul arrests began - so I'd say it was indeed planned and good for them!!!! I use to live near DC and if I was still there I would have happily joined them today

14. She seemed rather happy
She has brought so much bad press upon pResident Bush. I can't question her actions. I support her 100 percent. If she wants to get arrested, I say go for it!

16. That's the next great political cartoon
JC being carried away from the WH for an act of non violent civil disobedience.

with government.... the phrase could be as he is standing on a pile of rubble outside the wh... "Let my steeples go".... or some such utterance....
