I have been here for a little over a year and I have grown to love this place until today. I think I have probably only started 3 or 4 threads here over that year. I fully expect this to sink into oblivion very quickly or get me booted but I am very angry. I have two quotes from a previous thread, no names, just a question and an answer and I think they are very important when considering how big a tent we can actually claim.
"HUH? I didn't realize we had posters that will not support the Dem nominee no matter who gets it. OMG. I sure would like to know who they are."
Just a question. No problem. Then the answer several posts later.
"A lot of us know who they are and if we're still all here in 2005...and Bush squeaks in...they'll be reminded."
Anyone else have a problem with this?

It strikes me as extremely petty.

Look. I stated that I am ABB second to my working for DK but this is almost a threat to others who may have different feelings. Can we not respect these people? How do you know when they get down to it that they won't have a change of heart? This kind of thing may make them think twice. It is bad to threaten people like this. Many of them are my friends, I am not as idealistic or true to my real feelings because I do feel threatened by Bush* most of all but really. This is just awful behavior when we need all of these people.

I think you're being just a tad bit overly sensitive. This is a really important, emotional issue for people, we MUST get Shrub out of office no matter what, ANYONE would be better. So, for someone to say they won't vote for the Dem nominee is akin to saying you want four more years of Bushit, in which case the country may not, frankly, survive as we know it.

upsetting to come to DU and see two or three threads questioning if I was really a "good" democrat because most people who support DK, (you know this is true), are really full of crap and not really imterested in this country only their own petty concerns. It is not true and after many days of this I am angry. Want to remember my name and come and get me later? Is that what we are getting to here?

| 3. If someone helps Bush get elected, like Nader did in 2000, I'll remember |
|
Is that bad?
I supported Cruz running in the recall and it looks like I was wrong. I'm sure some people here will remember that I was wrong about that too.
What's the point?

and want to see him go at DU (well, except for certain unmentionable elements such as stealth dittoheads). I really don't see a problem here?

And you are right, I can't really remember reading a thread which you have started...
If someone wants to vote for a third party, for Bush, whatever, fine.
All I ask is that they not strut around saying, "Don't blame me, I voted for _______". I don't think its reasonalbe to bitch about Republicans when you aren't helping their only opposition.
Maybe that makes sense.
But, no, I don't hold the fact that people vote for a third party candidate against them.

I just needed a better word for it. What I'm saying is that I think most of us, no matter who we are going to vote for, that our presidents will be either Democrats or Republicans for the next several years.

and I really think you needn't be either. Both comments seem pretty tame, relative to your thread headline. Which is quite an accusation.

... and I recognize someone who said they WOULD NOT vote for the dem candidate if it isn't __________, and that person makes one complaining post about Bush, then hell yes I'm going to point out that person's voting choice.

Some of those posts reminded me how easy it is to be seduced by the fascistic tendencies we like to claim are the sole province of the Freepers.
The post you site reads like a 10 year old bully demanding people step forward and take their beating for their beliefs. I would expect that kind of thing at wing-nut sites, but it is disturbing here. But I am not surprised, the level of progressivism seems to be decreasing by the day at DU.
