Poll question: The Real Problem With A.N.S.W.E.R. Today Was...
I thought they handled it very well in S.F., but I did catch the C-Span of D.C., and it did drone on a tad.

3. Does anyone really watch C-Span other than the already convinced?
The MSM sure as hell isn't going to carry any of the speeches. Thne important thing is that we all showed up and had permits for a place to rally. Thank ANSWER for that, the important part.

17. Yes my elderly father does.
He lives in a little small town and has cable tv.
If it wasn't for C-Span he wouldn't have a clue to what's going on.

7. "WE MUST SMASH CAPITALISM!!! WE MUST SMASH IMPERIALISM!!!!"
I didn't even go to the demonstration, but I know what speeches at ANSWER rallies are like. Not every speech, but every other speech maybe. I myself wouldn't mind smashing capitalism OR imperialism, but I don't need to hear someone shrilly SCREAMING this into a microphone for 15 minutes.

11. "smashing capitalism "
How are you going to smash a system that's practiced in some form in almost every nation on earth?

"smashing capitalism " is as unlikely as outlawing hurricanes...

That is ANSWER's problem as their whole ideology rests on that premise.... Everything else is commentary...

13. They Want To "Smash " America and Israel....
Both nations needs to reexamine their polices as most nations do but they are no more or less deserving of "smashing" than the other one hundred eighty eight or one hundred eighty nine nation states...

14. I agree!
No nation should be eliminated! The governments may need a major overhaul, but the people that live there do not deserve to be homeless. However, some here would disagree with us.

10. Four damn hours of all of the above?
Actually, I wasn't there, but I did go to the ANSWER protests in Jan and Oct 2003. The October one especially was four goddamn hours long. I was suffering a little from heatstroke at the end and barely managed the whole march. I know some older and disabled people had to leave because they couldn't stand that long.

I don't care so much about smashing capitalism and imperialism. They're welcome to discuss the Isreali/Palestinian problem with intermittant shrillness but there is no earthly reason why the speeches need to go on for FOUR DAMN hours.

Just poor planning. Period.

But until someone else steps up to the plate, what are you going to do?
