Is Andy Card The New WH Deep Throat?
Here's an interesting theory.......

Who's The Good Guy?

Atrios throws down the gauntlet:

... there's also one more person who could end this - the senior administration official who pointed his finger at two White House officials in the WaPo article 8 days ago.

Oh yes, indeed. Let the games begin.

Many assume that it's Tenet for a variety of reasons, many of which are very compelling.

But, I think it's somebody else. Somebody who has voiced concerns in the past about the political operation of the White House. Somebody who expressed alarm in Ron Suskind's seminal Esquire article that Karl Rove would have unfettered power with George W. Bush after the resignation of Karen Hughes:

"Ill need designees, people trusted by the president that I can elevate for various needs to balance against Karl. . . . They are going to have to really step up, but it wont be easy. Karl is a formidable adversary."

That, of course, was Andy Card.

Someone else in the same article went on to say:

"But many of us feel its our dutyour obligation as Americansto get the word out that, certainly in domestic policy, there has been almost no meaningful consideration of any real issues. Its just kids on Big Wheels who talk politics and know nothing. Its depressing. Domestic Policy Council meetings are a farce. This leaves shoot-from-the-hip political calculationsmostly from Karls shopto triumph by default. No one balances Karl. Forget it. That was Andys cry for help."

1. exactly
I had the same thought as soon as I heard about the Wash Post whistle blower - the Esquire article was fascinating (and of course got no press buzz) ... that Rove quote "we will fuck him!!" - priceless ... and the Card quote stuck out in a huuuge way (surprised he's still there - I guess when you're *'s chief of staff there isn't a whole lot to do besides help coordinate the photo ops)

I actually posted this on GD a week or so ago and it dropped like a stone - surprised that DUers haven't been on this more

2. I've always thought he could be a leaker.... There's leaks coming
out of there - that's for sure... He is NO fan of Rove and the Neo-Cons. He and Colin Powell are the only "normal" people in that Admin. - the rest are a bunch of nuts.

3. In That Case, janekat,...
...We'd better hope that they have the good sense not to get into a small airplane anytime soon!
