Bob Ney is every bit as dirty as Tom Delay
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 08:32 PM by ohio_liberal
Who is going to take him on next election? He's already in hot water with his constituency over a $1.7 million addition to a transportation bill to demolish a privately owned bridge in Ted Strickland's district. The addition was recently scrapped due to bad publicity (it was found that the owner of the bridge rented office space and donated several thousand dollars to Ney).

And now we have this:

Safavian, 38, who oversaw $300 billion in federal procurement for President George W. Bush, quit Friday after an FBI operation alleged he obstructed an investigation and tried to finagle a government deal for a friend. He was appointed in 2004.

Yet what is most significant about Safavian's case isn't Safavian himself. It’s the fact that he was arrested—and that emails he sent to conservative superlobbyist Jack Abramoff indicated that those on the trip knew that a trip to Scotland in 2002 was being paid for by the lobbyist.

An email sent by Safavian appears to indicate that the powerful Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH) lied when he said he was "duped" by Abramoff and lied again on financial disclosure forms when he said that a nonprofit had paid for the trip, RAW STORY has found.

Bob Ney is a fucking scumbag, and it's time for him to go.

2. Bob Nye also helped in the "show trial" hearings in March on the Ohio Vote
He knew that the American Center for Voter Rights was repug
shill group and that their spokesman, Mark F "Thor" Hearn was
chief legal consul for bush / cheney 04. He knows the election
was dirty and helped to keep it covered up.

Total slime!

8. Conyers got a hell of a lot of dirt in his small investigation
but would Nye or any repug give him Subpoena power?
(which would have forced Blackwell to testify)

"they" know it was dirty. Hell Deb Pyrce had the Texas Strike Force
work in her district and lectured us that we don't love America because
we did not think it was "fair."

I pray that dirt comes out and we get our country back.

3. The GOP are all thieves and murderers.
Those within the GOP who do not condemn Ney and company are complicit.

Indict and condemn.

6. Chief Sponsor of HAVA aka Diebold's Windfall
The biggest financial winner in this e-voting boom has been the Ohio-based company Diebold Election Systems (DES), which, among other windfalls, just signed a $55.6-million contract with the state of Maryland — "the largest-ever voting system agreement to date in the United States," touts Diebold in a recent press release. Perhaps coincidentally, HAVA’s co-sponsors are Bob Ney, a Republican congressman from Ohio, and Steny Hoyer, a Democratic congressman from Maryland.

I'll do anything to get him out of there
He is a mean spirited, nasty man. I'm glad to see that his past is haunting him. Sorry to say that he's my congressman.

7. Also blocked federal legislation for Voter Verified Paper Ballots
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 08:48 PM by Boredtodeath
"On Capitol Hill — which set much of this controversy in motion by passing a voting reform act that appropriated millions to the states to upgrade their voting machinery — legislators in the House and Senate have introduced the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act, requiring elections officials to ensure a voter-verified paper trail for future elections." (HR2239)

"But the bills have not exactly taken Capitol Hill by fire."

"And the House version may require the approval of Rep. Bob Ney, the chairman of the Rules Committee and a Republican from Ohio — where Diebold is headquartered."
