We need another Franklin Delano Roosevelt
We need a modern era FDR to pull our country out of the shambles that the GOP has made of it.

We need a leader who sees the government as a vehicle to make PEOPLE'S lives better not corporations.

We need a leader who will rebuild the hurricane devastated South with programs like the CCC.

We need a leader who has the courage to admit that the nation has taken the wrong course in the war on terror and that we need to withdraw from Iraq.

We need a leader who will push for better fuel economy and push for innovation in the energy industry.

We need a leader who appreciates education and knows that the people of this country are very capable.

We need a leader who will make healthcare for all a right and not a privilege.

We need that leader and we need him or her to emerge NOW.

10. Eleanor, also, would have dropped The Bomb.
Her correspondence is full of references on how it's okay to bomb civilian populations because they work in war industries, etc.

5. The last time we elected someone like that, he was killed
Certain sectors of our society simply will not tolerate that kind of populism and would react against such a proposition.

14. You might,
I might, everybody on DU might, but Conyers has as much chance of being elected President as Bush does of being re-elected. Maybe less. There's 3 years to get the Constitution amended to make him eligible for a third term.
