| Changing the constitution for Health Care, Education, and Housing |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-19-05 09:08 PM by BayCityProgressive
Am I alone in the thought that only ammending the constitution to mandate publicly funded healthcare, a right to housing, and education is the only way to ensure equality in America? It seems like with all the gains made by the New Deal, Great Society and Clinton's progressive taxation we still have close to nothing because whenever a conservative is in charge they just undo the will of the people. All I am saying is if the GOP can put ahead stupid amendments to ban flag burning and gay marriage why can we not ensure a quality life for all??? I believe Al Sharpton advocated this.

| 2. As I recall, Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. |
|
also advocated it, or something similar. (I remember his talking about health care and education, don't recall if housing was mentioned.)
So no, you're not alone.

I wish we could make housing, healthcare and clean water and a place to socialize gather in public, a right to eat,and right to get help in disasters and a right to an income to live on,even when you can or can't work a fundamental right of citizenship. But all the wannabe rich, the free market faithful, the poor haters, the rich, the Elitist snobs, and people that want to believe there are no free lunches(they never realize the super wealthy in america have free lunches as well as those who marry into these families)and those who hate to see others happy will prevent it.These people seem to WANT a displining harsh stoic government and want to impose it on everyone. Only maybe 40 people a year in america EVER get to become rich. And some of them are lottery winners.
