Katrina impact on the German Elections??

One of Schroeder's platforms: "Germany needs to be a counterbalance to the out of control US" (oh, the irony) while Merkel saying "Germany should repair relationship with the US and make nice".

Now, Merkel was WAY ahead in pre-election polling, but Schroeder made an amazing turnaround in actual election to just about even.

Pre-election polling, preKatrina. Actual election, postKatrina.

Just saying.

1. On CSPAN this AM, I heard that the city of Dresden still has not voted.

There were two German journalists on CSPAN WJ discussing the elections.
