The Potemkin Presidency?
I heard in a couple of different places that the powered areas of NOLA that the President visited were only powered specifically FOR his visit, and that darkness and death returned once he left. Is this true?

If so, it reminds me greatly of the story of the Potemkin Villages.

1. Brian Williams reported this the
next day and Maureen Dowd wrote about it in yesterday's NYT op-ed piece. Bottom line: Bush is full of shit.

4. This was reported by Brian Williams
and other reporters and people that were there. They thought they had power and were excited, until they turned it off...

5. That reminds me of an incident I personally had
It's insignificant compared to New Orleans, but here it goes.

When I was in middle school, the AC was never on and it was HOT!

Teachers said that it was controlled by downtown.

But, the Mayor visited one day, and guess what?

The AC was working.

6. they also spend an awful lot on backdrops for every Bush appearance . . .
I have yet to see chimpy give a speech -- or do much of anything, for that matter -- without seeing custom-make backdrops touting the issue of the day . . . if he wants to start cutting government costs, there's the first place he should look . . .
