unions must protect davis bacon
a lot of you probably never heard of davis bacon until recently, but believe me the powers that be have been trying to get rid of it since the day it was signed. there has been a hard press on it since the raygun days.
construction unions know very well how important this law is. it is the lynch-pin of decent wages for them.
THEY MUST SHUT DOWN ANY JOBS NOT PAYING THE PREVAILING WAGE,
NO MATTER HOW VITAL THEY ARE.
they should make a gigantic show of the first good target down there. they must stand up for decent wages, and for the right of displaced citizens to get the jobs rebuilding their homes. (and they must rid themselves of the racism that still exists in much of the construction industry)
elected dems must protect them.

6. really just occured to me as i was typing #4
that we need to support the picket lines that are near us. whatever the few remaining diehard unions are managing to pull off should be supported in whatever way we can. walk the line for an hour, take a bag of big macs, or a case of cold bud lights. honk and raise your fist. they saved us the last time

3. By their response to Bush* over this I believe Unions are History
If there was ever a time for them to speak out and actually stage a walk out this is the time. Everyone hear that sound? It is the sound of silence coming from the Union Halls. Cheap Labor republicans have won a MAJOR battle here. Granted it is only in twelve states at the moment but the slipery slope has been reached.

4. nail, hammer, boom
they MUST strike these job sites. and stand up to the army, like the last time the robber barons took over the country. and non-members must stand with them. i don't think the unions even think this way. but that would save them, imho.

10. i don't mean us, i just mean
that voting is a sham now. our election system would be grounds for overrunning any third world country that implemented it. if we fix that, we fix everything. if we don't, we can fix nothing.

9. Why aren't our Dem leaders screaming about this?!
I haven't heard a peep from any of the big name Dems. I know the Roberts hearings are in full swing, but they know this is the * standard operating procedure - distract and insert devastating legislation or rule changes when no one is looking!

We've lost so many union jobs that used to support the middle class and poor, and return people work two to three service jobs... Have the dems washed their hands of the unions?
