Weather Channel really pushing global warming
I can't believe that I'm even posting about TWC, but I do tune in regularly, espeically during hurricane season, being on the SC coast. And I catch it over and over again - "global warming" is referred to more as fact than theory.

That aside, the anchors/meteoroligists do tend to seem 700-club-like pro-bush when given the chance, but they do speak of global warming with seeming certainty.

Right now, on the east coast, they are airing a special on abrupt climate change due to global warming - not if there will be change, but more how severe it will be.

This is the weather channel.

Makes you wonder....

1. SC coast
Where are you? I'm around 25 miles inland from Charleston SC and I don't like the clouds tonight.

3. North Charleston

(on edit - not exactly the "coast" I guess, maybe 15 miles inland)

And that hurricane/tropical strom just seems to keep moving west to me.

Rainbands are coming onshore, but not where I am just yet.

I have family in Summerville. (used to live there myself, wish I still did, but that's anohter story).

I'm not so sure these people know what this storm is going to do.

2. Global warming is a fact, you cannot dispute the evidence
A few try, but mainly people try to argue that global warming is part of a natural cycle, and not caused by humans.

6. Global Warming IS a part of a natural cycle...
It's called mean solar output, and it's been rising significantly since the second half of the 19th century. Simply put, the more energy that the Sun puts out, the higher the mean temperature. The various activities of humans are making the situation far, far worse than it would be otherwise, but even if we had NEVER started destroying the O3 layer with CFC's and the like, we'd STILL be experiencing global warming.

As it stands, I don't think that the Earth is on a fast track to Venusian conditions quite yet... A few centuries, who knows? But certainly not yet. Skeptical? Go look at a graph of mean solar output versus global climactic change (specifically temperature rise), and THEN tell me that I'm full of it.

Odd. I once argued this with O'Reily in his radio show, and even HE wouldn't admit that the Sun played a much larger role in determining the Earth's climate than did any activities, destructive or otherwise, of mankind.

I wholeheartedly invite potential refutations.

4. As the hurricane approached they also said how many poor, sick, elderly
people were there and could not get out. People watch that channel--lots of people.

5. A major reason we need to get rid of this administration
they are robing the country and leaving us too suffer the consequences, instead of preparing the people for the future. they are not diplomats trying to arrange the well being for mankind, but greedy Individuals robing everyone else for there profit. it's sickening that this has been going on for so long. Just look at the latest contracts to clean up N.O. and cutting the wages of the people on the ground doing the work, I bet there will be a majority of mexican workers working for 40 dollars a day if that, while there mexican boss take most of there wages for themselves, don't get me wrong we were all immigrants at one time or another, but they are now profitable to put to work dislodging the resident population. I'm not guessing here this has been going on before Katerina.
