Bush on MSNBC "I have no knowledge of Brown resigning"
Reporter asks him if he has accepted Browns resignation. Says he is not going to comment on something that he doesn't know about. Says he hasn't talk to Chertoff, he has been working on the ground. What an asshat. This is getting worse and worse.

70. Yeah, Rummy scares me too. Especially since news got out about private
contractors 'guarding' top commanders in Iraq. Any career officer making it to Gen rank probably knows enough about people to pick his own body guards with confidence. Having private contracted goons makes me think the officers are under house arrest and taking orders from the corporations. Guess it backs up my theory that the troops in Iraq are hostages and we pay ransom to Halliburton and the others.

Makes me really fear for our troops and our people at home.

The

President

of

the

United

States

says

he

doesn't

know

about

the

resignation

of

a

Cabinet-level

appointee.

Well, SOMEONE, accepted his resignation! I was taught that since Cabinet-level positions served at the pleasure of the President, they could only be released by the President.

Is Bush the President or not?

See, that's the interesting thing here. This little incident today, Brown resigning all over the press but * not having a clue and ADMITTING it on TV, is not like this group. Rove usually has a tighter handle on things and would've had a spin on this story even before it hit that Brown had resigned.

Somebody's starting to slip...

27. A bad farce.
Bush keeps his image of being a loyal master (critical to keep flunkeys-at-risk from getting nervous) -- and (still) the (publicity) "problem" is removed.

Not a bad strategy, it might "sell".

65. Nope, it won't sell this time.
I think it was HR Haldeman who told Nixon: Once the toothpaste is out of the tube, it's hard to get it back in.

Bush's failure to know about the resignation of his own FEMA director creates yet another publicity problem, which only ties into the perception that he's not on top of things, which is a huge publicity problem resulting from his response to Katrina.

There are two hilarious pieces to this.

The first being that the news and the public found out about this before he did, when they like to tell us how he's so in charge.

But even BETTER, he doesn't even have the ability to APPEAR as if he knows WTF he's doing--he straight out says "I have no knowledge" of his resigning. You're the fucking pResident, dude, don't you think you should at least pretend you know what's up?

Poor widdle Georgie. It must be soooo hard, having to fly in planes, pretend to like people and care about them....makes him sleepy...

69. That's always his response. But I don't know how in the hell he gets away
with it.

Ask Bush anything, live, in front of the cameras. He will either spout a bunch of bullshit at you, or he will tell you he "isn't familiar with that situation" (or however the fuck he fumbles through saying that).

He does it so he doesn't have to answer any real questions about developing issues, or issues that he couldn't coherently respond to (not that he is ever coherent, but you get my point).

One example that immediately springs to mind (it was absolutely stunning to me that he got away with this one, which is why I remember it) is when he was asked about Janet Jackson / The Superbowl Halftime Show a few years ago. He answered with "I fell asleep before the show", and somehow that was enough. They didn't even bother to ask him what he thought about it. Apparently, since he slept through it and doesn't watch the news or read a newspaper he had no idea that it even happened.

So, apparently, our president has no idea about local, statewide, national, or world events because he lives in an information bubble.

And people are ok with this?

Shouldn't they be scared out of their minds?

I am.
