If the fact that they tried to starve people out of NO doesn't saturate
the media this unbelievable situation will fade away as another interesting story that flashed across peoples' TVs.

I could have believed that this administration could do some really evil things but I couldn't have imagined this.

11. There are numerous articles about how FEMA turned back water and rescuers
You shouldn't have too much trouble finding them.

14. And they are forcing people out of their non damaged homes lest they find
work rebuilding their city.

It's EXACTLY like the aftermath of the "fall" of Iraq.

4. and Americans basically sat around and watched
the horrors on TV.

Sure...we got pissed...we got outraged...but what has changed?

Thank god so many people have donated time and money....but it is pretty clear that its not enough and that it is not going to change anything.

The media is bought & paid for by the neocons...sure a few reporters who saw these atrocities spoke out...but it'll fade. Just watch.

BTW, where are our great Dem "leaders"? Hasn't anyone just totally freaked and gotten righteous anger and DONE something?? I have yet to hear anyone stand up and say "this is total insanity, what the hell has happened to our country"?

So you really think we can vote this evil cabal out?? You think they are gonna LET us vote them out? You think getting a party with A different letter behind their names is going to make things BETTER?

I think its way too late.....we have all been sold out.

7. The CBC and progressive caucus are still viable, the trouble is there
are too darn few of them to override the corporatist neocons.

9. I agree.

Initially, I assumed it was the usual expected incompetance but as it dragged on with the plethora of sadistic and deplorable conditions, then suddenly, the second * got his photo op with the split screen of the troops miraculously arriving at the exact same moment, I was sickened.

But then, as these survivors gradually have been completely dispersed to various states, often unaware of their destinations, and Halliburton got yet another no-bid-wonder contract, it became apparant that this was intentional and cruelly deliberate.

Destroy the dignity of these people to the point where they'll go anywhere, lose their property rites entirely, and never be able to afford to return.

It's blatantly cruel and totally criminal. IMHO

20. There is no way it could have been THIS bad without being on purpose
Hell, even with no governement in place all those people who tried to help would have swooped in there and gotten so much done without FEMA and DHS shutting them out.

Dispatch From New Orleans
What the rescue workers find.
By Josh Levin
Posted Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at 4:35 PM

This afternoon, I'm riding along with a four-man search-and-rescue
squad from the Army's 82nd Airborne Division. The boat I'm on is
covering a seven-block-by-four-block patch of residential area in Lakeview...

By the end of the day, I've condemned the entire neighborhood—houses
where friends used to live, a vet's office, an elementary school...
