1. What are opinions here about these polls?
I take it some are left leaning, others right....some take too small a snapshot.

What about Zogby, what's the opinion of DUers?

4. I think Zogby usually gets respect on this board, based on...
his record of relative accuracy in election polling.

7. Zogby himself is a dem...as I understand he polls everyday
and this might represent a 3 day average (which is how that kind of poll is often reported).

Olberman said last night some poll shows only 10% of GOP think Bush did a bad job. If there is any correlation to this poll it might mean the independents have turned on Bush.

I am liking those disapproval numbers in the high 60s and low 70s. Would love to see them all there.

:woohoo:
Polls can be a used as a political weapon--it's just a matter of oversampling the people who are most likely to give you the answer you want.

14. In a normal world, Bush should be Toast, but then, this is America
Land of the FREE

We are Free to be remain Ignorant, to let others think for us, to be lazy, to be uncaring and selfish....we are Free to take advantage of others if its legal...We are free to brainwash, to fool, to con if we do it legally....etc etc...

This Poll reveals Bush as a very Poor Leader, yet he continues, such is a poor system. In the NFL, this "coach" woulda been history....

3. Bush exploited 9/11 to scare, & he used his "tax break" to bribe voters
Most people can now see through his stupid little "tax breaks" that ended up costing them thousands, but he still uses 9/11 to scare the voters.

16. probably in Gallup -- their overall numbers are not out yet.
That would be unfortunate -- would mean that they are vastly inaccurate yet still influential

6. I think the Terror number was explained by the Doc on TDS Tues PM -
How the media and the government have "catapulted" fear, terror, armageddon into people's brains. It creates an endless life of irrational fear - fear for things that have a very small likihood of impacting any given person. The Right wing (Rove) and the current hysterical, short attention span media use it like a fine violin to play those who are vulnerable.

11. Don't care anymore...
Show me the polls or news articles that give me some hope from Democratic leaders.

Bush is done. He is toast and deserves to be thrown out on his ass. But, how does any of this make me feel better about the Democrats?

12. Bush's approval rating is now about 21 points lower than Clinton's
on the day of impeachment. Scream it from the rooftops. Bush is a wildly disliked President who has lost the support of the nation.

20. and let's remember that Zogby has been the only pollster so far to
ask that impeachment question! Hope he does it again soon.

He has an interesting table according to which Bush would lose to every president since and including Carter (but, surprisingly, to Clinton by just one point) and he is one point over Kerry! Does not quite calculate there. Zogby: “It’s interesting that each of the former presidents beats President Bush and that his image has been hurt with what is perceived as his greatest strength. It’s intriguing to me as well that John Kerry is still stuck where he was on Election Night—an indicator that Democrats, today, are unable to take advantage of the nation’s situation politically.

and the findings about Katrina contradict gallup:

Among those holding a negative view of the government response, President Bush bears the brunt of public criticism, with one-in-four (27%) voters saying he most deserves the blame for inadequate government response. Federal Emergency Management Agency Director Michael Brown comes in next in overall criticism, with 22% blaming him. However, the combined total blaming Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco (15%) and New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (8%), the senior state and local officials, respectively, is slightly higher than those blaming Brown, with 23% placing the blame on the two Louisiana figures. Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, meanwhile, comes in at 8%, while 9% blame other government officials.

..maybe they will come out from under their desks, raise their hand, and actually speak out about something.........anything.........

23. They need more than that -- they need a clear opposition leader
just one and it should probably not be Kerry or Hillary Clinton.

15. Overall approval is 40% in the pollingreport
see

http://pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm

so must be somewhere in between -- Zogby is just being generous :)

but he still manages to have 49% "favorable" which is the lowest ever in this poll but way too high. What's there to like as a person?!!

24. A new CBS poll
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/09/08/opinion/polls/main824591.shtml

His overall approval here is 42%, actually 1% more than in the previous one but his Katrina numbers are terrible -- a huge drop from the previous one.

These numbers don't add up to 41%.
I think that final result is a bit fishy.
