2. I heard that between gas prices and heating bills people will pay $1k
more this year then last year for fuel.

Poverty numbers are up, and that was even before Katrina.

3. Ouch!
All the energy price gouging can and will be blamed on Katrina through next winter, related or not.

4. I hope Michael Brown had his television set on.
When they start stacking frozen old people like fire wood it might be considered a "disaster."

5. That's around $24 per mcf for me this winter.
It will equate to a car payment each month from October through March.

I hope that's a worst-case scenario for natural gas prices.

On the bright side(?) - invest in natural gas utilities and producers to offset some of the losses.

6. We just installed a hitch on our car, and are buying a trailer.
Gonna go get wook for the wood burner! I already knew this BS was coming. Didn't need CNN to tell me! I have several blankets for the bed, and will be keeping that woodburner going all winter!

I can't afford a 71% increase, and I think it's going to be higher than that!

13. Same here is Mass plus
we live in a 200 year old house that has very little insulation. On a good year its $$$, this year we'll probably freeze. Going to set the dial at its lowest and bundle up. Have left it at 64 degrees for years to conserve, whats a little more cold. We are on Social Security, what a joy retirement is, I don't wish it on anyone.

11. When the freepers start freezing to death, I'll just say it's their own
fault, for living somewhere cold in the winter.
