We have 140,000 troops in Iraq, 15,000 in Afghanistan and 60,000 in the New Orleans/Gulf of Mexico zone. What if there is either another disaster or a domestic terrorist attack, which would require National Guard? Where will the troops come from?

I tend to think that this episode moves the country even closer to a draft. Maybe not a draft where they pack you up and send you off to war, but a draft for "homeland security", like patrolling the streets of New Orleans or a city ravaged by a terrorist attack, or guarding airports, skyscrapers and shopping malls.

I'll tell you one thing right now. I will not serve this president. Not a snowball's chance in hell.

5. Just in case my flat feet aren't enough...
I suppose I could get a tattoo on the palm of my hand. That's enough to disqualify service. And since hand skin is replaced so quickly, it'll fade within at least a year.
Hmm... wonder what I'd want to tattoo on there...

6. I've been a little confused about that . The MSM reported 1500 on Sunday
and 500 on Monday. I don't know if they are wrong on their figures or 1000 went home to be with their family.

There was also the coast guard which did a great job. I heard nothing about how many of them there were.

The the MSM was all excited about 1,000 NG there Friday! But 4,000 of LA national guards people were in Iraq.

11. My point exactly... strange strategy don't you think?
It proves what we don't need any more proof of. They either have no clue or they have evil intent.

4. If they wish to...
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 12:50 AM by Mr_Jefferson_24
...press forward with PNAC's plans for America's total world domination, many, many more troops must come from somewhere. There's no getting around it. How they'll go about it is harder to predict. I suspect they may be considering some sort of massive outsourcing to third world shit pits around the globe where desperate young men would jump at the chance to become American citizens in return for a few years of military service.

8. majority in iraq are reservists - regular military who have benefits
are not over there - if they were killed or wounded the costs in dollars would be higher - reservists have no medical and when they come back - many have no job

9. Consider this:
NOLA os only ONE city...
We now have 60,000 troops there.

Iraq is a whole COUNTRY....
We have 150,000 there.

is there any wonder why Iraq is a total quagnire?
