60. Actually the plane once was owned by Quantas
He has had it painted in its original paint as delivered by Boeing---At one point the plane was rented from him by Quantas, and he was hired for a single flight as a Quantas pilot as a publicity stunt a few years back.

Just consider that he paid not only for the goods delivered but for the aircraft fuel to deliver them---Kudos

32. That os really great of John and Kelly, BUT THEY ARE AVID BUSH SUPPORTERS
Ever since I saw JT on the same page with Bush and found out that he was out campaigning for him, I will never again think about John without a real dissappointment and sick feeling in my stomach.

Then when Kelly came out against anti depressents with all of the crap with Brooke Shields and Tom Cruise, I again was sickened.

since I read about her getting in a custody battle with an ex boyfriend over his dog.

She got the dog away from him, and promptly had it euthanized, just to get back at him.

I'm glad they did this, but I still can't stand her.

9. i posted about Oprah
b/c i saw a preview commercial mentioning the stars on her special show tomorrow. They were mentioned along with others whom i've immediately forgotten, since i won't be watching.

it was an honest point: can Oprah Winfrey get them in?

I for one expect to see the coverage of the victims, damage and expectations of the glorious rebuilding in LA to be handled with a positive spin very soon. All due to the *moron's leadership.

racism it ain't.

19. What the hell are your talking about?
Christ, some people can't turn over a rock without finding a racist.

And some people can't be happy about anything, ever.

This guy (of whom I'm not a fan) did a very good thing. Why can't it just be a good thing that he did, and commendable, and thank you, without some kind of whining carping "but that's not good enough because..." or "if somebody else had..."

Jesus. The guy tries to do something good, and still there are complaints.

then i'll just shut up.

Travolta and other celebs are doing a great thing - getting help and supplies in there is a godsend to the victims. So was Al Gore's mission to bring out the worst victims. And so is the group of Drs coming from my town with the mobile lab full of supplies and other med staff. The only point i am trying to get at is this. Travolta is going to be on Oprah tomorrow (with others), why not Gore? He got in too, and out with victims in need of serious care ...
I'd suspect Gore is not working the limelight, and it wouldn't look good stopping him from getting in, either.

and the Drs, mobile lab, and staff from my town? They can't even get in. They are sitting there still, not able to get in past FEMA. But they don't have celeb status, nor backing. And those Drs and supplies are just as necessary.

i believe it is a deliberate hollywooding-best scenario-glitz and glamorization of this tragedy that someone wants in the news ... not the real devastation, deathcount and ongoing misery.

that just doesn't sell soap.
dp

update 11pm: the state of the art medical mobile lab, fully stocked and with facility for 113 patients ... is still sitting in Mississipi ... awaiting FEMA clearance.

56. Pick your poison ...

Pat Robertson or L Ron Hubbard.

They are two faces of the same coin.

Rebelling against Christianity doesn't make you either "liberal" or "spiritual". Organized Christianity is warped and twisted from the original wise words of JC. Dianetics/Scientology is stupidity wrapped in even greater stupidity which is ultimately wrapped into a cruel joke (Xenu).

If you can believe in the Thetan/Xenu story, your mind has truly been warped and softened to the point where you will believe and do pretty much anything. I fear Scientology far more than I will EVER fear the likes of Pat Robertson.

Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 09:01 PM by philosophie_en_rose
If Vinnie Barbarino and Oprah and private citizens can drive right into New Orleans and save people, what the hell is wrong with the government?

It doesn't take a genius to figure out what needs to be done on a basic level. (1. Bring supplies. 2. Look around. 3. Help people. 4. Take people back. 5. Repeat.) What's going on here?

27. I may be part of the tinfoil hat community on this one
but it seems like this is more reason to believe that Bush is trying to starve the federal government into submisssion. If he shows how bad the government can bungle something this big, no one will rely on them anymore and that gets the government out of responding to emergencies like this and letting private citizens take care of themselves. Also known as the we're all screwed plan.

They've been on the edge and know where it is. With MSM doing the work of the devil (until recently), the only voice of merit the average person has IS the entertainment industry, which is why the right-wing attacks them so vociferously.
