The US government charters 3 Carnival(tm) cruise ships
http://www.voanews.com/english/2005-09-04-voa24.cfm

The U.S. government has chartered three of Carnival Cruise lines ships for the next six months to provide temporary housing for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Carnival officials say the ships will be able to provide shelter for as many as 7,000 people displaced by Katrina.

Two of the cruise liners will be based in Galveston, Texas and the other will likely be docked in Mobile, Alabama.

A little bit late but I'm suuuuuuuure this will bring his popularity back up to 90%, no? :eyes:

1. It's great that they have all those rooms and beds for people
But man, those ships are floating germ catchers. I worry for the health of the people on them.

2. My guess is those ships will be for the "finders"...

The "looters" are in busses, being taken from she;ter to shelter all over the frigging South to try and find a place that will take them. Even busses with the likes of Maxine Waters and Jesse Jackson on them have run into trouble.

I would be very surprised if any of the poorest of the poor (read: African-American) end up on those ships.

5. Will they have to tip the purser?
Do they get a free soda card?

And most importantly, will the chocolate fountain be flowing?

Let's get our priorities set straight from the get go, ok?
