"Worst abandonment...FEMA cuts emergency communications.."
"Yesterday — yesterday — FEMA comes in and cuts all of our emergency communication lines. They cut them without notice. Our sheriff, Harry Lee, goes back in, he reconnects the line. He posts armed guards and said no one is getting near these lines…"

1. Is there -any- way to look at this except as some sort of MIHOP?
I mean, what the fuck, Chuck? Anyone cutting cables for emergency communications lines is commiting an act of murder. Anyone who does shit like this deserves to hang.

5. Yep. Get rid of the MIHOP. If the lines were cut someone needs to
come up with a really, really good explanation or they go to trial. Plain as the noses on our faces.

2. yeah, I wish that guy would have elaborated on MTP...
I can't think of ANY possible justification for cutting emergency lines. So FEMA is actively sabotaging the rescue now?

7. Article on this for those with slow ISPs

Mr. Broussard said FEMA turned away three trailer trucks of water that Wal-Mart sent to New Orleans before the hurricane, refused to allow the Coast Guard to deliver diesel fuel to his parish and cut off emergency communication lines without notice.

He said that Sheriff Harry Lee reconnected the lines Saturday and posted armed guards to protect them.

Mr. Broussard quoted the sheriff as saying that if the "American government would have responded like Wal-Mart has responded, we wouldn't be in this crisis."

The parish president pleaded for help. "Nobody's coming to get us. Nobody's coming to get us. The secretary has promised. Everybody's promised. They've had press conferences. I'm sick of the press conferences. For God sakes, shut up and send us somebody."
