What about the people trapped in their homes by the floodwaters?
I watched the news this morning and from what I saw - the people outside of the Superdome and the Convention Center did not exist.

Has anyone else heard? Is progress being made?

There was this flotilla that was turned back...

2. As of yesterday, there were still plenty of people stranded in their home
There are also plenty of people in MS and LA that have seen no rescue and have had no food and water for 5 days. While it is probable that NO has the largest number of victims, these people should not be forgotten because they are also in a terrible situation.

4. It's only possible to survive 3 or 4 days without water
This is just horrible beyond words.

5. I'm not ready to assume that all the people started with zero water
Cynical me is thinking there isn't a good photo op ready yet - like this one:

When they want to do something - they can. They have demostrated that.

And keep everyone else out so everyone is at their mercy and jumps for joy when they decide to act.

I just about can't stand it.

6. I have heard that all along there have been boats and crews going
house-to-house looking for survivors stranded due to the water. It is slow work, but they are chipping away at it, and bringing them in one by one.

7. Seems to me
Tuesday and Wednesday they were patting themselves on the back for rescuing 1000 -3000 people a day - when there were perhaps 50,000? 100,000? who knows how many out there.

I haven't seen any reports of any substantial effort and mostly the one report where the flotilla was not allowed in while the Fish and Wildlife people were just screwing around.

If there is a more substantial rescue report - even if someone is making a photo op about it - I would love to hear it.
