Convention Center People: "Spoiled and Whiney"
Repug visitors just left our house. It was horrible. They were talking about the Convention Center people and how spoiled and whiney and complaining they were. "If they were going to loot, why not loot enough to give all of them food and water?"

All I know is, that THEY are my heroes. I think of how impatient I am at the littlest thing - a long line at the store - or someone slow in traffic. I thought about the Convention Center People for a long time. I pictured running up to my roof with a minute's notice, in my pajamas, because the flood water was rising. I picture clinging to the roof for an entire day. I pictured the trauma of being whisked up into a helicopter. And then days and days with no food, no water. Sleeping in the dark, on concrete. Worried that someone might shoot at me. Holding three babies with no diapers, no formula, in 95 degree weather. And then it rains and you think you will drown. And the government says you will be picked up in a bus any minute. And no one comes for 4 days.

Today, I saw these people standing in line. No one screaming. Once again, patient, orderly, waiting.

I admired these people more than I can express in any words. My heart breaks for them. And once again, I can not comprehend how ANYONE could feel any other way....

2. These people are not your "friends"
I am sick and tired of these kind of people... quite simply, they suck. No longer after this display of the total lack of human compassion will I be SILENT! Throw their asses out!

3. Unfortunately, I now live in Texas. If you want to have any friends
you have to have repugs.

8. And I hope that you explained to them...
... how it would be if it were them.

I too, tried to put myself in their position. I came to the conclusion, that I would do everything possible to protect my family, and to keep us all alive. If that means lotting the basics tools of survival then I would, all of us would.

As far as looting and sharing with others, who knows. Even if there is enough food and water to go around, things can get out of control very easily with such a large crowd jammed into a relatively small space. They may say that they will share, but everyone is panicked, and when it comes right down to it, you and everyone around you will fight to survive. Myself included.

I can't say what I would do, because I have never been in that situation. If I felt my life depended on it, I would probably even kill to stay alive, and I think your Repug visitors would as well. (But they will never admit it.)

11. They weren't complaining about the looting of water - just why
weren't the smart enough to steal ALL the water. Crazy. They were implying that they just wanted the government to solve all their problems.

I agree, if I were them, there is no store, or hotel, or restaurant I wouldn't break into to survive, Especially is the govt left me for dead. I am much too weak to go through what those people went through.

But you are right. Keith O. is right. Those people are amazing to be as calm as they are under those circumstances.

12. it sucks. I missed the news tonight. How many, if any of them
got out of there?

You know what seems crazy. The repugs have to know what a pr nightmare this is for them -- cnn showing it all the time. You would think they would help them just for the cameras. Why are they letting them die on national tv. what possible motive could they have that they feel they could benefit from ???

13. This is definitely where the rubber meets the road. Ok, you voted
for Assclown, your right, you like the schmuck.

But this is SO different. The plight of the Convention People, comes down to you basic, gut, core beliefs of what is right and wrong.

15. You'd be spoiled and whiney too if your husband had to get together
with a band of other husbands and circle people with guns one by one and throw them out on the street.

How many were raped there?

People are traumatized. Completely predictable. And all the Mayor's fault because he refused school buses and demanded coaches with toilets for the long trip to Houston.

21. He said so on the radio. They were sending buses in from around
and he wanted buses with toilets for the victims. You know.. because America is the greatest nation in the world and he wanted people safe and secure as soon as they stepped on the buses. Since the busses were coming in from outside... no reason why they had to be school busses.

They have what they need to hang him - and hang him they will.

20. Like you, I can't "comprehend how ANYONE could
could feel any other way" about those in NO, except to see how the vast majority are showing remarkable grace under pressure. These are Americans who have been abandoned by the Regime of George W. Bush. At first, I wrote "our Government" (Glad I caught it because this regime is not my government). Your "visitors" ( I guess one could consider cockroaches "visitors" too) probably only listen to the MSM, and, for the most part, that has been a big chunk of the message coming across for the last few days: "they" should have left; "they" have only themselves to blame; "they" are looting.
Actually, in spite of the general shit we am being fed by MSM (although this seems to have shifted in the last few hours), what I have seen are people who under the most dire circumstances are maintaining human dignity, integrity, and, thank God, righteous indignation. The best way to help New Orleans and the country is to be in Washington, New York, San Francisco, Chicago and a 100 other cities on September 24th.

End The War Abroad and Incompetence at Home.

23. Take a walk in their shoes
So there you are, living and working in a big city, maybe you do laundry for a motel, wash dishes at a restaurant, clean rooms, haul trash. Minimum wage job and you live paycheck to paycheck working for the Man. You've been a good citizen; paying taxes and staying out of trouble.

Suddnely an emergency transpires: The man closes down the business, leaving you with no work. The man has even left town; gone for who knows how long.

The store you shop nearly everyday is boarded up, you don't know when it may open again. Living paycheck to paycheck, you don't have a stockpile of food; you have depended on the now closed store for your stockpile.

Panic sets in. You don't know how long the Man will be gone, or when the store will reopen. The establishment shows no signs of protecting you, either from starvation or the violent crime that grows every hour.

You are starving and thirsty. There sits the store you shop everyday, boarded up, yet full of food and water. There is no telling when it will open again.

What do you do?

27. Fuck your visitors! They're the spoiled and whiney ones.
CBS showed a man yesterday who talked about going into a WalMart and taking items that were essential to survival, water and p-nut butter crackers. He told how he left a note with his name and what he took so he could pay for it later! That man made me cry!! People on the outside criticizing these individuals are heartless assholes.
