Conundrum: FEMA management is clearly incompetent.
And they are lying repeatedly. If there were not such an emergency, they should be removed.

What to do?

1. Who appointed them and what was their qualification?
The #1 qualification that counts....how much money did they raise for Bush/Republicans in the election cycle.

2. Remove them immediately
and replace them with long time civil servants who have worked there for years and know what to do.

6. I've been hearing the stories of FEMA preventing help
from getting through to the people since Monday.

I hope the New Orleans mayor (after the poor man gets some rest) will lay it all out on the line. His city and its people got screwed royally.

Staffing an agency that can in theory preempt normal civilian government with your own political cronies who happen to have no emergency management experience places a massive check-n-balance on its overwhelming power. The founding fathers would be proud. It also acts as a boat anchor when the agency must respond to a major disaster quickly.
