I was in the epicenter area of the Northridge quake. Clinton acted SWIFTLY
and we knew we were getting all the help they could give to our devastated area.

We lived mostly outside with no power or water for a week. Shattered glass was everywhere. But we knew the immediate needs were being worked on, even with the constant aftershocks adding to the woes.

Clinton got his butt out to California within two days and walked the damn collapsed freeway with people pouring out to greet him with cheers for his quick actions.

Those of you who lived through it at the time, know exactly what I'm saying.

Focking Bush had a week's notice to prepare and still failed MISERABLY.

6. Black people do not like him on a good day. NO is 60%+ black.

So it is probably good that he has not crossed the path of any hot, hungry New Orleansian who lost everything he/she had who has been waiting for days for any kind of relief.

9. I was just south of Santa Monica
Visiting my mother for the 3 day weekend.

I remember throwing my body over my daughter's porta-crib while the room shook...
Only to find out that she had been fussing and my wife had taken her to bed with us.
I called my ship, told them where I was, and made it back only a day late.

10. Lived in So. Cal. all my life, & quakes literally come with the territory.
For some reason, I've never been afraid of quakes, but after the Northridge quake shook, rattled and rolled, everything was **vibrating** -- it was very weird, and audible; this buzzing, grinding hum was just all around, as if the earth itself was shivering. That did get my adrenaline going. I was living in West L.A. at the time, and my brother was in Santa Monica, which really took a hit -- houses off their foundations, hospitals destroyed, etc.

Not nearly on the scale of destruction as what's happening in NO, but it was bad. And yes, Bill Clinton and the federal government (FEMA) acted swiftly, decisively and thorougly. My mom's house needed its destroyed driveway and fireplace repaired -- it was done quickly, and was all paid for by a FEMA grant.
