Some more class from Fox. How would you like to hear this in Buloxi ?
NEIL CAVUTO, HOST: Forget insurance. My next guest says not one taxpayer dollar should go toward rebuilding the city of New Orleans (search).

Joining us now is Jack Chambless. He is the economics professor of Valencia Community College in Orlando.

Professor, why do you say that?

JACK CHAMBLESS, ECONOMICS PROFESSOR, VALENCIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Well, if we look at Article One, Section Eight of the United States Constitution (search) — and I encourage all Americans to look at that before we start opening up our tax coffers to pay for all of this — we have every obligation to provide for New Orleans in terms of charity, private charity from one person to the other.

But the founding fathers never intended, Article One, section Eight of the Constitution, never intended to provide one dollar of taxpayer dollars to pay for any disaster or anything that we might call charity.

Now with FEMA bailing out Louisiana, bailing out Florida and lowering the overall cost of living in these places, we have people with no incentive to leave. And the law of unintended consequences means that more people are dying with every one of these storms. They're becoming more and more expensive, more and more property loss, just because the federal government has violated the Constitution to provide for these funds.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,167790,00.html

So where in the Constitution does it say we should spread democracy to Iraq, Jack?

b/c it was rich white people in LI CT and NJ that got the money...all those million dollar traders that perished.

but poor folks in New Orleans shouldn't get anything. It just makes them lazy.

did the founding father encourage charity for big oil and coal?

You *really* don't want to know how my sister and her husband made out with minor damage to their house and no need to verify anything. Let's just say that they have gone from Republican-ish to die-hard Bushbots because a) they always were greedy and b) "he takes care of Americans"

BTW, they don't seem to think New Orleans "deserves" the same. Why? "they don't look like homeowners but like welfare cases"

(Yes, Florida in their 10 years there has worked its magic on them. I don't even know these people anymore)

Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 11:39 AM by IanDB1
Teaches from own book which is revised every year equaling more $$$ for him. Isn't it a conflict of interest to make money off the students this way? What a rip off.

<snip>

A good example of why tenure should be eliminated. He is the most arrogant and pompous person I have ever met. If you want a serious economics class, stay away--> He teaches one perspective only - his own. I'm shocked that there are any good comments at all. Additionally, as far as online classes go, he responds to none of his coorespondence!!!!

<snip>

1st of all if you're really into economics and want a balanced education & already have some knowledge, you will be exposed to only one perspective & expected to adopt his beliefs. Secondly as far as online goes, HE DIDN'T RESPOND TO ME ONCE except to say he'd received none of my work & didn't send test despite many calls/e-mails. & Hes tenured!

32. Wow. Eye opening.
This one even spells like a freeper.

The professor is great. He is defenetly the best a had so far. teaches with real life applications and did realy expanded my understanding about many things not only economics. Do not take him if you are lazy and defenetly go for his class if you are interested in the subject.

And the burgeoning elitist attitude is oozing out of this one already:

Understand that Chambless’ class is analogous to a 4-year university & not a com. coll. Too many of Valencia’s students are unprepared for college work and expect high school-like material. Honestly, if this is too hard for you, then perhaps trucking school is a more suitable option.

The class was challenging and informative. But he wrote his own textbook, and publishes a new edition each year, so we have to keep buying it! He has a one-sided view of history and savagely defends his personal politics that make Social Darwinism look humanitarian by comparison. If Hitler had read his book, he would have found a kindred spirit.
