5. We wouldn't but
we know how most people act in a large crisis. To a lesser degree we can imagine ourselves in the situation.

17. Some things are just surreal and bizarre as to be unpredictable.
Did anyone find out what the deal with the Superdome roof is yet?

6. We don't. And that's why I'm glad your response was first.
Right now option 3 has the most amount of choices and I disagree with it...

3. I can't believe anyone would suggest (MSNBC) they were
more worried about possessions than their own safety. Why, the hell, would they have evacuated tot he SuperDome if that were the case. It can't be pleasant in there--no A/C, most having to sleeping sitting in stadium chairs, minimal light...and fear...

7. What kind of poll is this? I've seriously seen some really strange ones
lately, but this about takes the cake.

8. I should have written down the guy's name at the time (~7:20AM)
:eyes:

Well, it was said when they got inside the dome they then became more concerned about their possessions. (of course, I've grown up and learned people are more important than possessions and am starting to siphon mine off... let other people use them...)

Uh, they have A/C too. Hopefully there's power for the thing.

Seemed bright enough when they showed the inside at the time too...

And fear was far worse when people were waiting to get in (another MSNBC quote).

16. Ok, so that's the reference. You're criticizing some news moron
for being insensitive and accusing these poor people of being materialistic, right?

19. Oh, I believe MSNBC said it... just can't imagine why...
Other reports I'd seen said they were on emergency generated power--low lights only and no A/C, so I don't know what to think. But, given they have what little possessions they may ever be able to save with them, I can understand them being protective of what they brought. :eyes:

Boy, there really is a disconnect with these guys and the poor of our society...

20. There is no A/C. There power went out at 5 am.
They're on a generator now that supplies limited light and no A/C.

21. Once they feel they
are safe, they are free to worry about their valuables. . . typical. I sure enough wouldn't feel safe in there though. I'd be waiting till it was all over before worrying about anything other than living through it.

4. I have lived through hurricanes..never in a shelter..but my personal
safety was always my first consideration..but my safety would only be comprimised if MY house blew apart first..so, I am sure they are more concerned about their immediate safety than anything else. Of course the parents care more of the safety of their children than themselves, but personal saftey is my personal choice.

10. I answered the 3rd one because
I believe most people become helpful and concered about others at a time like this. However, the MSNBC thought is not totally wrong. I lived in Puerto Rico for 12 years. Though it certainly does not apply to the majority of people there are always a few people that refuse to leave their homes becuase they don't want someone stealing their big screen tv or something. There are always a few idiots like this. But I would also say from experience most people fall into the 3rd category.

12. Hopefully.
But a lot of people say the sheeple are waking up re: *co when it seems more likely it's those jobless via offshoring and high has prices that, as usual, have people reacting to the "here and now" rather than looking at past actions and "future preparations".

I think it's a combo of each; but with our society's "importance" of money, you bet the people down there will be thinking highly of what they own and praying it doesn't get destroyed.

18. Really can't say....
...never really had to live thru a major disaster, thank goodness. I'd imagine it is the same here as it is with anything else. In some people disaster brings out the best in them, in others it brings out the worst - but I would imagine, while some worry about their possessions, most are concerned with their own safety and the safety of their fellow citizens. At least I hope they are.

14. I'd be concerned with Aaron Brooks' accuracy this season
He has to be more consistent for the Saints to have a chance to make a run.

As for what the people are thinking, I stopped being psychic a few years ago so I have no idea.

15. If I was sitting in the super dome right now
with the wind whipping the roof and it already leaking. The only thing on my mind would be my safety and the safety of others with me in that dome....
