More Than a Coincidence?

Today (8/25) FNL was still hyping the "Able Danger" story. Curiously (or maybe not) FNL has resolutely ignored other whistleblowers who have made & who continue to make similar allegations about the failures of US intelligence agencies before 9/11/01. Now there are new allegations that pre-9/11 intelligence may reveal bribes paid by Turkish officials to House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL). But as far as FNL is concerned, the only allegations that matter are allegations that "lawyers" (boo! hiss!) "prevented" (boo! hiss!) our dedicated heroic spies (yay!) from sharing info about Mohammed Atta.

<snip>
Comments: While FNL is blathering on about Able Danger, they're ignoring Sibel Edmonds, If you watch Fox, her name is probably unfamiliar to you. Edmonds, who speaks Farsi, Turkish & Azerbaijani, was hired after 9/11 by the FBI to translate the backlog of pre-9/11 intelligence material. She has accused the government of having considerable evidence that Al Qaeda was planning to strike the US using airplanes as weapons. For that accusation, she was fired by the FBI in March 2002, & is still fighting that firing in the courts (she has appealed to SCOTUS, but they have not yet decided whether to hear her case). Edmonds is under multiple gag orders imposed by the courts at the request of the DOJ, who invoked the "state secrets privilege" (& who have also classified nearly every document relating to her allegations, including an interview she did with "60 Minutes").

Vanity Fair has just (September edition) published an article about her, "An Inconvenient Patriot." This article includes allegations that Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-IL) may have been the recipient of secret payments from Turkish officials in exchange for political favors & information. Edmonds says she gave confidential testimony about the payments to congressional staffers, to the Inspector General and to members of the 9/11 Commission. Edmonds says that she heard of the payments while listening to FBI wiretaps of Turkish officials who were under surveillance by the FBI.

<snip>

So why isn't Fox all over this story the way they're all over Able Danger? Edmonds is as telegenic as Natalee Holloway. If you google "Tony Shaffer" or "Able Danger" there are multiple hits for Fox News (& other right-wing outlets, like the Washington Times, GOPUSA, & WorldNetDaily). Google "Sibel Edmonds" & not a one of those pops up. The rest of the so-called MSM is largely MIA. Hmmm...

15. Able Danger is a Pandora's Box that will blow up in the RW's face.
Re-open the 9/11 investigation? BRING IT ON! Here's why:

So the responsibility for stopping DIA program Able Danger, which had Identified Atta and 3 other hijackers and linked them to 56 other al-Queda terrorists overseas, has been laid at the feet of Bill Clinton--except he and Richard Clarke were never told about it at all.

That's right. Bill Clinton was never told about Able Danger and the ID of Atta because Richard Clarke was never told about AD. How do I know? He never wrote about it in his book, nor did he testify about it's existence before the 9-11 Commission!

You see Richard Clarke was known for being obsessed with Osama Bin Laden and HE was the guy the neo-con moles did not want to find out about Atta and the gang. Schoomaker and the neo-cons knew telling the FBI would inform Clarke and then Mr. Laser Beam himself, President of the United State William Jefferson Clinton, would have gotten involved--and the Pearl Harbor-type attack would never take place (the neo-cons talked about the need for a Pearl Harbor-type attack before the PNAC Plan would be accepted by the American people--so when one presented itself, they let it happen).

General Pete Schoomaker, who were later heavily rewarded by the neo-cons in the Bush Administration, blocked the upward motion of the DIA information by having Shaffer and Philpott meet with Pentagon lawyers opinions--lawyers who were rubberstamping ridiculous legal opinions to carry out the neo-con plan. These certain people were neo-cons in the Clinton Administration, covertly carrying out the PNAC plan to let a Pearl Harbor-type attack occur so Iraq and 6 other countries could be invaded.

3. Next thing you know it will be Clinton they blame for getting paid
off on the genocide vote too, if Fox ever gets around to covering that story. Boy, once the Dems get back congress in 2006 (keeping my fingers crossed, though not continually so), they'll have a lot of work to do in fixing this mess (and their own frickin' party getting the DLC cancer out as well). Hope we can finally start fixing things then.

5. Able Danger proof of Secret Government.
The officers of record indicated their recommendations were ignored by higher ups who didn't inform Sec Defense Cohen or President Clinton. Like the FBI types in Washington who ignored all the data from Minnesota, Florida, Arizona and California, these turds haven't been reprimanded, let alone hauled to jail.

Great article. Thanks for the heads-up, G_j!
