1 million residents and 1500 available National Guards for New Orleans
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/08/28/national/29katrinacnd.html?hp

The city's distinct terrain makes it particularly vulnerable to the storm surges, heavy rains and high winds of a hurricane. With more than a million people in its suburbs and center, the city is surrounded on three sides by water, and lies below sea level in a bowl-shaped basin. Pumps would fail if the storm surge of up to 25 feet overwhelmed the city's levees.

Many of Louisiana's national guard forces are currently deployed to Iraq, but the general in charge of the Louisiana troops "has 1,500 troops ready to be deployed, with another couple of thousand that they can tap into pretty quickly," Mr. Nagin said in the CNN interview.

I know, they'll ship in more but the purpose of our National Guard is to be there to help protect us at home and help out in such emergency. Thanks Bush for findind even new ways to fuck up our country!

1. OK, that is misleading. They have only assigned 1,500 but more are
available. Its not like you are going to need 10,000.

7. New Orleans already is under sea level on a sunny day
So any amount of flooding will do some serious damage to that city. Add a Cat 5 very powerfully oragnized hurricane to the flooding and 10,000 would be a start to help rebuild the city.

3. As the damage is being picked up and the dead buried
Karl Rove will ban the phrase "National Guard" from any of Junior's public platitudes

5. Storm is a direct result of Al Qaeda...
Not only was Al Qaeda directly involved in the terrorist attacks on September the 11th, 2001, but thanks to Saddam Hussein they now have a fully operational WCP (Weather Control Program). This is the first of many storms that "Weird" "Al" Qaeda is prepared to launch towards the US and its allies. We must act now to stop the coming global super-storm of biblical proportions that these Islamofreakists and X-treme Muslims are going to lob at us in the coming days...

Weather... indeed!

8. Remeber Hurricane Andrew? No cops or national guard for weeks.
Looters everywhere. People had to stay in their destroyed home with guns to keep what little they had left. The scene was like that for 30-50 miles inland from where the storm hit. If things go wrong, this will be a big disaster during the storm and a bigger one after.
