I can't believe what he's said already.

Basically, he totally defended the bona fide nature of his being chosen for the Niger mission. He was an old Africa hand who had extensive knowledge of and contacts in Niger and the African uranium industry.

This all started when Cheney had a question for a CIA briefer on the question of the Niger Connection and asked for updated information.

He was contacted by the CIA through his wife, Plame.

A panel of about a dozen people from the CIA, State Dept., and maybe the Pentagon interviewed him, and asked him to go to Niger and check things out.

Plame told Wilson beforehand that the Niger story was already discredited, by her personally and by a four-star Marine general.

Wilson briefed State and the CIA on his findings.

That's the last thing he heard about it until the SOTU. Wilson called WH afterwards and asked for a correction. WH said maybe he was not talking about Niger. Then when the forgeries broke, and Wilson said the Administation knew more than it was telling.

Then the Plame leaks began. Frogmarch: Wilson was too caught up in the spirit of the moment, but he meant he wants the investigation to go forward. The CIA works for the White House, right? And respectable press people are saying after Novak's article, Rove was calling around saying Plame was fair game.

Wilson told everyone about the results of his Niger investigation and is willing to talk about that and the Plame Affair.

"The leaking of this information, in and of itself, is the crime."

He addressed the Democratic caucus because he was invited but would speak to the GOP caucus as well. In fact he'd love to do it.
