Staying in Iraq would weaken us?
Leaving Irag. . . . . . . . . . . . . . while Staying in Iraq
Would reduce insurgent attacks on US...guarantees continued attacks
Would reduce US military casualties... guarantees continued casualties
Would reduce losses of vehicles....... guarantees losses of vehicles
including humvees, light trucks,
heavy trucks, tracked vehicles.
Would reduce losses of helicopters.... guarantees helicopter losses
Diverts $1 Billion a week............. guarantees spending $1 B/week
prevents using that money on port
security, border security, first response
other military projects,

and precludes the US from investing in strategic development...
including alternative energy, mass transit,
public health, education etc.

I guess Bush learned something at the Harvard Business School that I never learned in my public universitiy business courses.

1. You missed..
one other very important fact.

Aren't the deployment of reservists limited to so many days in any multi-year period?

If we max out our reserves, what will we bring out to fight the next battle, recruits?

2. I'm sure I missed a lot. We're playing roulette with emergency response
the NG/R are important in responding to earthquakes, fires, floods, tornados and hurricanes.

And when we've exhausted the NG/R we'll be forced to conscript people, not only young people but people with special skills, pulling them out of their civilian lives and risking if not destroying their lives.
