We need to support Hagel right now.
He is getting attacked by the right. Scarborough just called his comments "shameful" and said that his call for us to get out of Iraq now was to hurt the troops on purpose in order to get air time.

I don't make a habit of supporting Republicans, but when a man is right, he is right and should be supported by us.

2. Hagel is courageous. His staff has to be made up of really sharp people.

I'm sure they have advised Hagel that he will be able to weather the coming storm. They most likely have their fingers on the pulse of what's going on in small Nebraska towns and cities. They're getting feedback about the human cost of Bush's war.

BTW, the truth about the war is being told and retold at dinner tables and family gatherings in homes in districts across America. You can bet that, behind closed doors, the troops who have returned home are his best allies.

4. I can't...
I support what he said about Iraq, b/c I think he's right: it is like Nam.

However, I also think his comments were born out of political expediency. He wants to run for President, and he knows Bush's poll numbers will start dragging down other Repugs.
