Candelight vigils a "publicity stunt"
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 06:51 AM by SHRED
The Freepers are now quoted on CNN?
And they have the nerve to call the Vigils a "publicity stunt".
They attack where they are guilty in hopes their lame attempt at projection will stick.
Truly pathetic bottom feeders.

"FreeRepublic.com, which holds rallies to support troops and to counter anti-war demonstrations, planned to hold a pro-Bush rally Wednesday night at the same time and same Washington, D.C., park as a candlelight vigil there.

"For us the organizers of the vigil are phony-baloney, betraying the sacrifices that those, men and women make in Iraq, by demanding that we pull our troops out now and leave Iraq to go to hell," said Kristinn Taylor, co-leader of the group's Washington, D.C., chapter. "This is a publicity stunt.""

The freepers nor anyone else will diminish the experience I had at last night's vigil:

3. Actually, they are. Got to get the message out somehow. However,
unlike the Freepers, the organizers of the vigil have a valid, well-thought out agenda. Freep's just worship their one God, Bush and all his works.

So nevermind the "phony-baloney" WMD, or the "phony-baloney" 9-11 connection, or even the "phony-baloney" Texan/Great Leader in office. It is those people that want a stupid, wasteful, unwinnable war to end, that are "phony-baloney". Wow!

7. But a Connecticut Yankee, educated in New England's best private schools,
who attended Harvard and Yale (where he was a cheerleader), a man born on third base and convinced he hit a triple, a spoiled frat boy with a silver spoon up his ass...

is the Marlboro Man!

Never, ever, underestimate the power of denial.

6. Ah, The Oh-So-Careful Wording
"FreeRepublic.com, which holds rallies to support troops and to counter anti-war demonstrations..."

Translation: You see, the "anti" people don't "support" the troops...

Ignore the Freeptards, but let CNN know: you see through their bullshit. Remind them that it's the Freeptards who like to remind us that THEY DON'T CARE. They know that already--but remind them anyway.

8. I was at a vigil....it was no fucking "publicity stunt"
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 07:05 AM by terrya
There were about 70 - 80 people at the one I was at last night. And it was 70 - 80 people who were standing behind Cindy Sheehan 100% and offering her our support (we also signed a petition the organizer of the vigil will give Cindy this weekend in Crawford). And a protest against this disgusting war. It was 70 - 80 concerned Americans who care about the fact that some good people are giving their lives to an immoral war.

That's what the vigil I was at was all about. As well as the 1,600 some vigils across the country last night.

BTW: if it was some fucking "publicity stunt", it didn't make much impact if what I saw in the Chicago Tribune today was the coverage in the press. A smallish article...WITH a counter point offered to the FR.

12. Let's be Honest - this is a Publicity Stunt
We want people to pay attention to Iraq and the fact that it's a losing war fought for no reason; what Ms. Cindy Sheehan is doing is simply an effective way to elevate that issue in people's minds.

What really gets the Republicans steamed is that it is an effective publicity stunt.

15. I Take Umbrage With The Word Stunt
A stunt can be construed as an escapade, a trick, or a hoax. The RW selected that word with a specific agenda in mind, they want Cindy's heartfelt PLIGHT to have the air of a circus.

This is a Publicity Plight NOT stunt! Fuck them they don't get to frame this>>>>>>>>>> Cindy does! Fuckwittages!

I can't imagine.
My daughter's boyfriend goes in September. He is a Marine from North Dakota. His parent's pressured him in when they found out he had smoked some grass. They are smalltown, alcoholic, church going farmers. They just go to church, worship Bush and drink beer to get through.

My deepest wish is that your Son and all the troops come home safe and soon.

23. My Ex A Former F-14 Jock Now A Fundie Millionaire ( A Killer For Jesus)
Pushed Ben as well. He sort of shamed Ben into believing he was worthless and Ben just said "fuck you" and enlisted. I'm living in Italy and even though I flew back to get him to back out Ben wouldn't break his commitment.

It's surreal. I'm physically sick and I feel like I am losing my mind. I love Encinitas BTW I spent many hours surfing there when I was going to San Diego State. Thank you for having a vigil for Cindy at Moonlight. I fell in love more than once at that beach. Let's hope Ben (and ALL the troops) get that chance.

Mine leaves in November, he has to go train at Ft. Hood for a month. He is going into the belly of the beast, Baghdad. I too am mad at these idiots who think they are the mouth of the troops. You and me, we are, we are personally involved with this effort and we know.

They don't even have people in the war or know anyone who has lost someone, that shows you how in touch they are...

They are more then Support Bush Rallies
The Bush Campaign owned and operated these events in the run up to the election. How many violations of election law do you see in the picture below?

Clue #1: All four contracts were signed by the same person, who also happened to be the Secretary for the Alachua Co. Republican Party.

The ACRP also housed the headquarters of the Bush/Cheney 2004 campaign. This event was supposed to be two full days of speakers, Swift Boat Vets and videos. It was entirely owned and operated out of Bush headquarters in Gainesville.

21. Very odd, this article has changed since last night.
Before, it mentioned that the Freepers had about 20 demonstrators in Washington as opposed to about 300 for the vigil. Now they've re-worded it to seem as though the numbers were about even.

27. So how many freepers showed up at THER rally?
At our vigil in Nashua NH we had one disruptor. He was an enormous gallook. About 6-4 with, well for lack of other words, a 'Soprano belly', and massively stupid. The freeptard was looking for a fight and was vocally taking on all challengers. Having a bit of the martial arts training, I just watched him for a while. One fellow in the vigil decided to debate him (not a good idea) and the freeptard giant latched onto him, started walking next to him in the circle, and they started verbally getting into it. This was not looking good, so I slid into the line behind the fellow debating the freeptard giant and did two things. 1) in a non threatening but confidant voice, loud enough for all to hear, I suggested that the fellow in front of me should just ignore the idiot looking for a fight; 2) I made eye contact with our freeptard, long enough for him to understand that I was not intimidated by his size or disposition at all, and then proceeded to take my own advice and totally ignore him. Our freeptard disruptor now was in an awkward situation. His chosen victim was to his side, but I was behind him. Every time he tried to focus on his victim, he lost visual contact with me. I was paying him absolutely no attention, but I was clearly in the picture somehow. It was all too much for him to figure out. He left. Poor freeptard disruptor.

29. Times like that are why I love Aikido.
When I was a club bouncer in college, I took Aikido to learn new ways to "physically persuade" people. When guys come up to you looking for a fight, it's very gratifying to be able to make them cry and apologize profusely (without injuring them) with a simple twist of the wrist.
